Job Description

WAUKESHA METRO FULL OR PART-TIME BUS OPERATOR
Professional Transit Management is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Operators are hired as part-time and then promoted to full-time when positions become available. A Part-time Operator, employed by Waukesha Metro Transit, operates a mass transit vehicle on city streets in the City of Waukesha and City of Brookfield. A Part-time Operator's regularly scheduled assignment pays an average of 25 to 30+ hours per week. Part-time Operators work a split shift (a.m. and p.m. pieces) or a straight a.m. or p.m. shift. Part-time Operators work Saturdays and Sundays, and may also be assigned split days off. All work assignments, including days off, are selected on the basis of seniority. Additional hours may be available over and above the assigned shifts. Job Duties/Responsibilities Safe operation of the transit vehicle while following routes and schedules. Informing customers about fares, routes, schedules, and operating rules. Assisting disabled passengers in boarding and exiting the vehicle. Prompt and regular attendance. Minimum Requirements Must be 21 or older Excellent Driving Records

Self-employed individuals must provide documentation of work performed. Part-time Operators are commercial drivers. Therefore, you must provide a complete employment history of at least 10 years. A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Instruction Permit will be required before starting training. A CDL must be acquired before completion of training. Driving Requirements Serious violations which appear on the driving record will disqualify an applicant from further consideration for a period of 10 years. These violations include, but are not limited to: A misdemeanor or felony. Driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Negligent or reckless driving. Less serious violations will be cause for disqualification if they occurred in the last five (5) years: More than two (2) moving violations. More than one (1) accident. Any combination of two (2) moving violations or one (1) accident. Any combination of careless driving and another moving violation or accident. More than two (2) convictions or combination of convictions for driving without a license. License suspension. Criminal Record Check Waukesha Metro Transit will conduct a criminal record check. You are responsible for providing Waukesha Metro Transit the location and duration of residence for each state in which you have lived for the past 10 years. Convictions for crimes with impact on public safety, property or life, or other factors related to the bus operator job, will disqualify an applicant. This will include a check of any out-of-state convictions. Selection Process Any single step in the process may result in disqualification. Applicants who perform best overall will be offered employment or placement on an eligibility list for up to six (6) months.

Application Review Job-related Conviction Record Check Reference and Work Verification Checks Submit to and Meet Minimum Requirements of a Medical Evaluation and Drug Screen (post job offer) Driving Record Review Interview Training Program New Operators are required to complete a 4-week training program. They must have a Wisconsin CDL or CDL Instruction Permit with Passenger endorsement and Air Brake. Rate of Pay Operators will receive $21.77 per hour. Operators receive a regular pay increase in accordance with the current labor agreement until the top rate of $28.03 is reached at 24 months.   • Any and all employees working in classifications represented by the Union shall have the right to join or not to join the Union, as they individually prefer. 120 Day Probationary Period
