Job Description
Job Summary:
Under direct supervision, performs pre-analytical and post-analytical functions of laboratory testing. Maintains department inventory. Transports specimens and supplies.Essential Responsibilities:
Upholds Kaiser Permanentes Policies and Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities and applicable state, federal and local laws. Performs pre-analytical phase of testing by bar coding, centrifuging, separating, mixing, logging and transporting specimens. Retrieves specimens for repeat testing, looks for stored or lost specimens and reports. Maintains orders and inventories all supplies for their specific area or job assignment. Receives and transports laboratory reports to the appropriate areas. Properly processes bar codes and accessions specimens. Prepares specimen for transportation to outside laboratories. Documents problem specimens. Maintains and monitors database for specimens sent to outside reference laboratories. Establishes and maintains courteous and cooperative relations when interacting with the public, patients and other personnel. Follows directives from all supervisors, leads, and seniors. May perform other duties as required.Basic Qualifications:
Experience 35 wpm or as required by facility Successful completion of orientation and on-the-job training Demonstrated ability to perform the duties/responsibilities of the job at a fully satisfactory level of performanceEducation High School Diploma or GED License, Certification, Registration N/A Additional Requirements:
Preferred Qualifications:
Managing/handling of med waste. Operate autoclave/cardboard bailer. Knowledge of chemicals used in cleaning lab surfaces. Able to lift 25-30 lbs.Notes:
