This is a 100% on-call, independent contractor position . There is no set schedule; however, you may request availability for day, evening, or night shifts. While on call, you must remain available to respond to assignments as needed. This role provides an opportunity to develop valuable experience in bereavement support, professional transport, and compassionate communication , while contributing to meaningful, dignified services within the community. Compensation Paid on a contractual per-transport basis Weekly payments issued every Friday 1099 independent contractor classification (issued annually) Responsibilities Safely and respectfully remove and transport deceased individuals from residences, hospitals, care facilities, and other designated locations Operate company-owned vehicles in compliance with all traffic laws and safety regulations Assist with lifting and transferring decedents onto stretchers or gurneys Plan efficient routes based on traffic and road conditions Coordinate with families, funeral homes, hospitals, coroners, and first responders Maintain proper chain-of-custody , identification, and documentation procedures Accurately enter all required information into company systems Transport caskets to airports, funeral homes, or care centers as needed Assist with handling and moving caskets when required Follow all applicable federal, state, and local regulations governing the care and transportation of human remains Duties & Additional Responsibilities Ensure proper handling, documentation, and packaging of remains Maintain detailed and accurate records for each transport Support event coordination efforts related to memorial services or community outreach Safely operate equipment when lifting or transporting heavy items Provide compassionate and respectful support to grieving families when appropriate Professional Expectations Maintain a professional appearance at all times Demonstrate empathy, compassion, and discretion in sensitive situations Communicate in a respectful and courteous manner Follow all company policies and procedures Uphold the highest level of professionalism and integrity Qualifications & Requirements Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (no traffic violations) Ability to perform heavy lifting consistently and safely Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to remain calm and composed in high-stress and emotional situations Willingness to work flexible and on-call hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain accurate records Basic understanding of, or willingness to learn, funeral industry practices Prior experience in customer service or related fields is a plus, but not required Additional Information This position plays a vital role in providing respectful and dignified service during sensitive times.
