JOB SUMMARY

: A paraprofessional trained and competent to perform assigned functions of personal care to the client in their residence. Caregivers should be compassionate and love working with and helping people. They should be able to work well on their own, and with minimal direction, but also be able to work as part of a team when required. They should have impeccable communication skills and know how to identify and resolve problems. They should also be able to lift, carry, push or pull upward of 50 pounds, often on a regular basis. Service First of Northern California caregivers provide a range of services for our consumers to include but not limited to; bathing, changing clothes, preparing meals, light housework, grocery shopping, assist getting to the restroom, provide companionship, conversation, prompting our consumers to take prescribed medication. Caregivers will also take the consumers to healthcare appointments.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

High School Diploma or equivalent.

HIRING CRITERIA AND QUALIFICATIONS

Possession and proof of a valid California Driver's License, vehicle insurance, a good driving record, and willingness to use personal vehicle in the course of employment. Must show evidence of a negative TB test within the last year (or acquire one). Must be able to pass a fingerprint background check. Must be able to speak, read, and write English. Ability to pass drug screen at the request of New Start. Must be able to work with people who have disabilities.
