Job Summary:
The Container Delivery Driver is responsible for delivering, retrieving, and relocating secondary waste containers, such as dumpsters or recycling bins, to customer locations. This role involves safely operating delivery vehicles, ensuring timely and accurate placement of containers, and maintaining excellent customer service. The ideal candidate is skilled in operating heavy vehicles and equipment, detail-oriented, and committed to safety and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Container Delivery and Retrieval:
Deliver and place secondary containers, including dumpsters and bins, at specified customer locations. Retrieve containers upon customer request or according to the service schedule. Ensure proper placement of containers in compliance with customer instructions, safety protocols, and local regulations.
Vehicle and Equipment Operation:
Operate vehicles equipped with lifting mechanisms, roll-off systems, or other equipment for container transport. Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of delivery vehicles and equipment to ensure safe operation. Report any mechanical issues or needed repairs to the fleet maintenance team promptly.
Customer Service:
Interact professionally with customers, ensuring their needs are met during container delivery or retrieval. Address and resolve minor customer concerns or refer issues to the appropriate department. Provide guidance on container use and placement when necessary.
Compliance and Safety:
Follow all company policies, safety guidelines, and traffic laws while operating vehicles. Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and participate in safety training. Ensure containers are secure during transport to prevent spills or accidents.
Documentation and Communication:
Accurately complete delivery tickets, logs, and other required paperwork. Communicate with dispatchers and supervisors to confirm deliveries, report issues, or receive updated instructions. Use route optimization systems or GPS to ensure efficient service delivery.
Maintenance and Cleanup:
Perform basic maintenance tasks, such as cleaning containers and inspecting them for damage. Ensure customer sites are left clean and free of debris after container placement or removal. Other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Valid Driver's License Clean driving record with no recent major violations or accidents. High school diploma or equivalent (preferred). Minimum of 1-2 years of experience driving heavy vehicles or delivering large equipment (waste industry experience preferred).
Skills:
Proficient in operating delivery vehicles and container handling equipment. Strong time management and organizational skills to complete multiple deliveries efficiently. Good communication and customer service skills. Ability to read maps, follow directions, and use GPS technology effectively.
Working Conditions:
May involve exposure to outdoor elements and hazardous materials. Physical demands include lifting heavy parts, climbing on equipment, and prolonged standing or bending. Work schedule may include weekends, holidays, or extended hours during peak times.
