Role:
The Transportation Technician performs specific activities related to the transportation of patients, equipment and materials throughout the hospital, i.e., nursing units, outpatient clinics. Respond to special requests to transport neonatal patients from the parking level to the nursing unit. The Transport Technician will collect and deliver specimens, materials, and other designated items to and from nursing units, outpatient clinics, the main laboratory and other areas of the hospital.
What You'll Bring:
Minimum Education High School Diploma or GED (Required) Minimum Work Experience 1 year Related experience in the healthcare environment (Required) Required Skills/Knowledge Lifting approximately 50 lbs. Able to bend/kneel and climb ladders/stairs. Able to coordinate eyes and hands quickly and accurately and clarity of vision at 20 feet or more. Ability to move quickly to respond to specified emergency situations in other areas of the Hospital when needed. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong organizational and prioritizing skills. Able to use a calculator and personal computer. Functional Accountabilities Transports Patients Transport patients between nursing units, outpatient clinics, and other areas of the hospital; respond to special requests to transport neonatal patients from the parking level to the nursing unit. Processes Specimens Collect and delivers specimens, materials, and other designated items to and from nursing units, outpatient clinics, the main laboratory and other areas of the hospital. Responds to Codes/Traumas emergency Respond promptly to Codes and Traumas throughout the hospital and process specimen requests and samples appropriately . Access HBOC order entry during a Code or Trauma and enter diagnostic tests per physician orders and nursing confirmation of such orders Respond to PRN requests for delivery services. Safety Speak up when team members appear to exhibit unsafe behavior or performance Continuously validate and verify information needed for decision making or documentation Stop in the face of uncertainty and takes time to resolve the situation Demonstrate accurate, clear and timely verbal and written communication Actively promote safety for patients, families, visitors and co-workers Attend carefully to important details - practicing Stop, Think, Act and Review in order to self-check behavior and performance
