Medical Courier

Job Summary We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Independent Contractor (1099) to join our logistics network as a Medical Courier. In this role, you will be responsible for the safe, timely, and secure transport of medical specimens, records, pharmaceuticals, and equipment between healthcare facilities, labs, and clinics. As an Independent Contractor, you provide your own reliable transportation and manage your own schedule, ensuring that life-critical deliveries reach their destinations with the highest level of professionalism and care.

Key Responsibilities Time-Sensitive Delivery:

Pick up and deliver medical items (blood samples, lab specimens, medications, and medical supplies) according to a strict schedule.

Safe Handling:

Maintain the integrity of sensitive shipments, including temperature-controlled items (ambient, refrigerated, or frozen), following all biohazard safety protocols.

Route Management:

Efficiently navigate your service area to meet pickup and delivery windows, utilizing GPS and logistics software to log arrivals and completions.

Regulatory Compliance:

Strictly adhere to HIPAA regulations regarding patient privacy and

OSHA/DOT

guidelines for transporting laboratory specimens.

Professional Communication:

Provide excellent customer service to medical staff and dispatch, ensuring all paperwork and digital logs are accurate and complete.

Contractor Requirements Vehicle Ownership:

Must own or lease a reliable, fuel-efficient vehicle (Sedan, SUV, or Van) with valid registration.

Insurance:

Must carry and maintain courier-specific commercial auto insurance or meet minimum liability requirements for independent contractors.

Clean Records:

Valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle record (MVR) and the ability to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening.

Equipment:

Must have a smartphone for dispatching apps and be willing to utilize personal coolers or spill kits as required for medical transport.

Physical Ability:

Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and comfortable sitting/driving for extended periods. Skills & Qualifications Strong sense of urgency and punctuality. Exceptional attention to detail (verifying specimen labels and delivery addresses). Prior experience in courier work, logistics, or the medical field is a plus, but not required. Knowledge of the local geographic area.

Pay:

$300.00 - $1,200.00 per week
