Under the direct supervision of the Director of Operations and/or Assistant Vice President of Parrish Medical Group, the Courier performs various tasks relating to the transportation of medical supplies, instruments, and mail to various off-site locations throughout Parrish Medical Group. This role will work directly with Practice Managers and the SPD Department at the hospital to ensure no delay in pick-up and delivery of supplies and instruments. 1. Responsible for the safe operation of the Courier Van during transportation of mail and supplies to various PMG locations. Maintains a pleasant and friendly demeanor. 2. Accurately documents all transportation trips in the logbook (i.e. locations visited), reports all incidents and follows up with communication to the Director/AVP as required. 3. Performs operational inspection of the Courier vehicle to include oil, tires, lights, water, and interior. Keeps van supplied with gasoline, reports any problems to Director and sweeps and cleans vehicle daily. 4. Responsible for all petty cash and purchases. This includes going off campus for minor purchases. 5. Will be required to hold clean driving record, pass driving test and participate in OSHA certification. 6. Ensure all instruments and supplies are stored and transported appropriately in vehicle, working closely with infection control department following strict guidelines. 7. Works with practice managers to pick up soiled instruments within guidelines set by protocol, including pick up of instruments and safe delivery of instruments and supplies. 8. Pulls supplies and instrument trays for surgical cases. Demonstrates knowledge of supplies and their locations. 9. Works closely with the SPD Department at the hospital to account for all bins, instruments and additional items delivered and picked up for accountability. 10. At times needs to be readily available at short notice to pick up or deliver requests. 11. Participates in education to Parrish Medical Group care partners regarding the proper handling of instruments in all offices, to include ensuring all on site storage areas are managed properly and audited by guidelines set by infection control. 12. Performs similar or related duties as assigned. 13. Knows fire, disaster and safety procedures and regulations as it pertains to the work area.
Formal Education:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent, is required.
Work Experience:
2 to 3 years of related experience preferred.
Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations:
Valid State of Florida Drivers License and Motor Vehicle Record that is acceptable to PMCs corporate automobile insurance carrier required. License will be screened prior to employment and annually thereafter. OSHA Certification required to be completed within 30 days of hire.
Special Skills:
Basic Skills and knowledge for routine maintenance of a motor vehicle.
