Job Description

Keeps local government moving by serving as the central hub for all City and County mail operations. This temporary position is responsible for the fast, accurate, and secure processing, sorting, and delivery of community and internal communications.
Duty I:
Mail 100%
Time Essential Tasks:
? Receive, separate, sort and distribute incoming mail ? Deliver and pickup City and County mail to offsite locations on designated route ? Abide by all traffic laws, City policies, and be a safe courteous driver ? Post mail using postage machine to appropriate departments ? Deliver mail to the Post Office ? Operate modern office machines and equipment ? Check email and other communications daily ? Log postage meter amounts daily and inform management when funds drop below threshold ? Check supplies inventory and inform management when below thresholds ? Communicate any issues with mail or mail route to management ? Be responsive to changes to USPS procedures and internal changes to processes ? Provide friendly customer service to clients

  • Basic math principles and calculations
  • City driving laws and vehicle operations Skill or ability to:
  • Operate delivery vehicle
  • Accurately distribute mail
  • Learn the procedures and functions of assigned position
  • Learn, interpret, and apply the policies, procedures, laws, codes, and regulations pertaining to assigned programs and functions
  • Work independently in the absence of supervision
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Establish, maintain and foster positive and harmonious working relationships
Physical Demands:
Ability to lift 50 lbs., carry bins of mail up and down stairs, and be outside for short periods of time during all weather conditions. Safety Performs all functions in the safest possible manner and according to policies and procedures. Participates fully in safety training. Reports unsafe work conditions and practices, work-related injuries, illnesses, and near-misses as soon as possible to assigned supervisor. Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience and Training): This position requires a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent and six months of experience involving public contact and operation of a motor vehicle. Knowledge or experience in a central mail system or the US Postal Service is preferred but not required. Other relevant combinations of education and work experience may be evaluated on an individual basis. Must be able to pass a detailed background check.
License or Certificate:
Must possess a valid driver's license with acceptable driving record at the time of hire and have the ability to obtain a valid MT driver's license within six months of hire.
