All Work Shifts (United States of America) Lab Courier - Lorain Hospital This is a PRN "As Needed" Position Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position The Lab Courier picks up and delivers medical specimens and packages between medical providers and the diagnostic laboratory while ensuring timely, safe, and accurate delivery. Essential Job Functions Identifies necessary supplies needed for daily route pick-ups. Completes daily pick up route in a timely manner. Handles all specimens and lab samples in safe and efficient manner. Safely operate company vehicle and obey all traffic laws. Track pick-up samples with manifest lists. Evaluates traffic patterns, alternative routes, and weather conditions as needed. Requires knowledge of or ability to learn geographic area. Licensing/Certification Valid state Driver's License (required) Education High School/GED (required) Work Experience Previous courier experience (preferred) Working Conditions Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur May be exposed to adverse weather conditions; cold, hot, dust, wind, etc. May be exposed to high noise levels and bright lights May be exposed to limited hazardous substances or body fluids
  • May be exposed to human blood and other potentially infectious materials
  • May have periods of constant interruptions Required to car travel to off-site locations, occasionally in adverse weather conditions Prolonged periods of working alone
