Job Description

Courier All Temps - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (26005119) We are seeking an individual who is familiar with Allegheny County and surrounding counties who will serve as a courier for research samples of biological materials, using a University rental car. Must be willing and able to travel to different sites throughout the extended Pittsburgh metropolitan area during all types of weather. Candidate must be dependable, prompt, with the ability to follow the specimen handling protocols, which require careful attention to detail, and maintain a professional demeanor. Must be able to work with other members of the research team to maintain supplies, anticipate and solve problems. This position requires the incumbent to use good judgment and discretion, follow a schedule of pick-ups and deliveries, act independently when applicable, be willing and flexible to make multiple courier runs in a day if needed and adjust to schedule changes. Deliveries may need to be made 5 days/week. Incumbent must obtain appropriate clearances and complete human subjects protection training, have a valid PA driver's license and evidence of insurability. Incumbent must maintain the rental car in clean and working condition, handle maintenance arrangements as needed and report any problems promptly. The car must be returned clean at the end of the assignment. Incumbent must be prepared to pay for occasional parking out of pocket as necessary (to be reimbursed) and responsibly report any parking or traffic violation as well as incidents resulting in damage to the vehicle. A High School Diploma or GED and a valid driver's license is required. A pre-employment drug test, motor vehicle report, as well as a physical are also required.
