Job Description

The purpose of this position is to provide general maintenance and services to the airport.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs aviation work by directing air craft, fueling and towing aircraft, securing and tying down aircraft, performing aircraft lavatory services, and maintaining cleanliness in aircraft areas. Receives, inspects and processes aviation fuel deliveries Provides vehicle maintenance by performing inspections and ensuring proper preventative maintenance on motor vehicles, ground equipment and landscaping equipment. Performs landscaping maintenance by mowing and treating grass, repairing fencing, performing trenching, digging, and concrete work. Assists in airfield maintenance by maintaining the proper state of runways and taxiways and maintaining proper wiring connections for directional and obstruction lights. Performs building maintenance by engaging in remodeling projects and providing janitorial services. Performs quality control for fuel farm and refuelers including maintaining daily, monthly, and annual inspections of aviation fuels and providing sampling and testing of tanker truck deliveries.

Performs other similar duties as required.
Job Specifications and Qualifications:
Knowledge:
Aircraft towing procedures and practices; Cleaning procedures and practices; Aircraft fueling practices
Licensing and Certifications:
Valid North Carolina Driver's License Must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Security Threat Assessment and 10 year Criminal History Records Check clearances upon employment

Applicants must meet the City criteria for an acceptable driving record. Incumbents are required to obtain the following certification within 6 months of hire: NATA Safety 1 st
Training Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
Positions in this class require: standing, fine dexterity, walking, lifting, carrying, sitting, reaching, handling, kneeling, crawling, pushing/pulling, climbing, vision, foot controls, balancing, bending, crouching, hearing, twisting, talking.
Heavy Work:
Exerting 50-100 pounds occasionally, 25-50 pounds frequently, or from 10 up to 20 pounds constantly. Incumbents may be subjected to extreme temperature, wetness and/or humidity, respiratory hazards, noise and vibration, physical hazards.
