Job Description

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
General Duties:
To assist the Home Medical Coordinator with every aspect listed below. To assist patients with their home medical needs. The Home Medical Assistant will assume the role of HME Coordinator during temporary absences and/or vacancies.
Specific Duties:
Order durable medical equipment needed to stock the store. Assist patients with the filling of their prescriptions for durable medical equipment. Take patient information for the billing system. Enter all patient and physician information into the billing system. Deliver, set-up and pick up medical equipment as needed. Maintain patient files. General maintenance on durable medical equipment. Responsibility to insure on-call coverage 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Demonstrates acceptable professional conduct, interpersonal and communication skills with patients, peers and other healthcare professionals. Maintains professional appearance and follows established dress code. Maintains patient and staff confidentiality. Demonstrates reliability and dependability in meeting work schedules, the fulfillment of responsibilities and commitments in daily attendance, punctuality, productivity and efficiency. Maintains awareness of new information applicable to the position's duties and responsibilities (e.g. policies, meeting minutes, procedures, memoranda, protocols, etc.) Performs other duties as assigned. Physical Requirements:
The primary portion of work is in a well-lit, ventilated, and air-conditioned facility. It may require prolonged, extensive sitting/standing. Position may require stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, and/or use of tactile information. The individual must be able to express ideas or exchange thoughts by means of talking, hearing, reading, and/or writing. The individual should have motor coordination, manual dexterity, finger dexterity, eye-hand-foot coordination. This position may include transporting objects, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Qualifications and Education Requirements High school diploma, previous experience with durable medical equipment is preferred. Prior knowledge is a plus. Shoe Fitter Certification preferred.
