The Emergency Medical Technician Basic (EMT B) supports the Registered Nurse through observing and documenting patient conditions. Working under close supervision, this role assists with patient care as directed by the nurse. Essential Job Function
Assists with clinical procedures, including monitoring blood glucose, recording vital signs, obtaining EKG's, applying restraints, and attending to elimination needs to provide comfortable care for patients.
Communicates with other Emergency Medical Technicians, hospital staff, and patients to deliver timely care information.
Assists with patient care through monitoring and assessing symptoms and data.
De-escalates high pressure or conflict scenarios in order to collaborate effectively with team members and ensure patient safety.
Builds knowledge base and skills through trainings and continuing education in order to strengthen skills in providing care.
Helps to maintain unit inventories of supplies and medical equipment in order to ensure a clean and safe environment in adherence to the National Patient Safety Goals.
Collects high-quality blood specimens to ensure reliable diagnostic results and support prompt patient care for Hospital at Home positionsPerforms other duties as assigned. Education
