The Lead Motor Vehicle Operator is both a Motor Vehicle Operator and Lead and will fill in as a driver and as required. The Lead Motor Vehicle Operator provides work leadership, coordinates and schedules maintenance of all station vehicles assigned to the section in order to maintain satisfactory mechanical condition and cleanliness of vehicles. Responsibilities The Motor Vehicle Operator makes recommendations concerning leave in a manner that will afford proper work coverage. The Lead Motor Vehicle operator is responsible for a variety of administrative duties as directed. The Lead Motor Vehicle operator will assist the Transportation Supervisor in Motor Vehicle Operations; the number of personnel he/she leads may change depending on the mission and goals. The Lead Motor Vehicle operator receive directions from the Transportation Supervisor, he/she provides guidance to personnel to accommodate various changes and priorities that arise daily. Provides work leadership and coordinates maintenance of all station vehicles assigned to the section in order to maintain satisfactory mechanical condition and cleanliness of vehicles.
Duties and Responsibilities Include:
- Passing on to other works the instructions received from the supervisor and assigning the immediate tasks to be performed by individual personnel; Demonstrating proper work methods;
- Obtaining needed information or decisions from supervisors on problems that come up during the work;
- Maintaining a current knowledge, and answering questions of other workers on procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directives.
- Checking work while in progress to ensure the supervisor's established standards are being met.
- Ensure all safety guidelines and regulations are being followed.
- Answering questions of supervisors on overall work operations and problems.
- Working along with other workers and setting pace;
- Seeing to it that needed plans, materials and tools are available, and that needed stock is obtained from supply locations;
- Urging or advising other workers to follow instructions received from supervisors, and to meet deadlines;
- Seeing to it that there is enough work to keep everyone in the work crew busy;
- Reporting to supervisor on status and progress of work and causes of work delays.
- Addresses formal complaints and informs Supervisor regarding formal grievances in accordance with Agency policies.
- Responsible for maintaining and recording attendance on time keeping sheet daily.
- Incumbent must adjust hours of work to meet the needs of the section and to complete the mission and goals of the Hospital.
