MOTOR VEHICLE

OPERATOR, WG-5703-08, you will transport supplies and equipment intra and inter Ste using a variety of wheeled vehicles to haul cargo and fuel, transport passengers or to tow or recover equipment. Vehicles are driven in restricted traffic environments on Government installions, and over public roads and highways, or under cross-country conditions. Requirements Help Conditions of employment

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED.

This is an excepted service position th requires membership in a compible military assignment in the employing ste's Nional Guard, required prior to the effective de of placement. Selectee required to wear the military uniform. Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service. Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigion. May be required to successfully complete a two year trial period. Participion in direct deposit is mandory. Currency on out-ste tractor/trailer height/weight requirements and on HAZMAT and OSHA requirements. Must have operor maintenance ability for all types of equipment. Currency on all types of loading equipment (forklifts, cranes, winch systems). Must be able to drive long distances, remain overnight various locions, as necessary, and work during weekends and periods outside of the normal work day. For positions requiring the operion of motor vehicles, candides must have a valid ste driver's license for the ste in which they live or are principally employed. For positions requiring a security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE

: Experience or training which demonstres the ability to follow instructions and safely opere the type of equipment required to accomplish the duties of the position.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE

: Must have 12 months experience or training which demonstres the ability to opere and perform operor maintenance on straight-in-line trucks which typically have an approxime gross vehicle weight of more than 32,000 pounds. Experience demonstring ability to opere truck tractors with semi-trailers or full trailers and motor coaches. Experience opering vehicles over a variety of roads including interste highways, narrow country roads, and on steep winding grades. Experience driving vehicles without mishap in compliced traffic situions. Couples and uncouples the truck tractor and semi-trailer, or truck and trailer, and connects and disconnects the air brakes and electrical lines. Maneuvers vehicles within close tolerances when driving and backing over uneven ground, in narrow or congested areas, between buildings and other vehicles, between parked aircraft and when positioning vehicles loading docks.
