Working as a pilot in a camp environment on a rotational schedule. The typical workday involves assisting with loading the plane with freight and passengers and delivering them to remote villages and camps across Alaska's north slope. The current fleet consists of two Piper PA-31-350s, a Cessna 207, and a Cessna 206. The pilot is the sole authority concerning the safety of the aircraft, crew members, and passengers during flight operations. You will have the authority to suspend, restrict, or terminate the flight if conditions are unsafe. You will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and professional conduct of all flight assignments, as well as ensuring that all required documentation is current, correct, and kept in the designated location. Duties and assignments may overlap with other position responsibilities depending on operational requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintain and keep current all required logs, sheets, charts, and any other required documentation in accordance with the 70 North handbooks and manuals. All documents must be kept in good order and in the designated location. Pilots assigned to Visual Flight Rules (VFR) or Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) operations of aircraft will be familiar with all available information required for safe operation of the flight. Ensure the flight assignment will not exceed any federal aviation regulations (FAR) for flight and duty time limitations. Ensure flight assignments will be completed before any maintenance inspections are due. Work in conjunction with the maintenance staff to confirm airworthiness of the aircraft. Supervise fueling, assist with loading, manage distribution of cargo and passengers, and ensure all cargo and baggage are properly secured. Determine that weight and balance are within the prescribed limits. Minimum Qualifications /

Requirements:

Must be 21 years of age. Possess a valid Commercial Pilot Certificate. Multi Engine and ATP highly preferred. Possess a valid driver's license. Meet the requirements of

FAR 135.243

(b) and

FAR 61.159.

Must be authorized to work in the United States. 1,500 hours total flight time. 500 hours cross country time. 100 hours night time. 75 hours instrument time (actual/simulated). 250 hours PIC time. Possess an FAA second class medical certificate. Excellent customer service skills. Knowledge of applicable FAA and environmental regulations (noise abatement). Ability to perform operations outside and in extreme temperatures and weather. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment. Be punctual, organized and clean appearance. Possess the ability to communicate clearly and effectively. Ability to work self-directed and within a team. Ability to demonstrate exemplary performance as a professional aviator. Must pass pre-employment FAA DOT drug test and participate in random drug testing. Basic computer skills. Other Duties Support maintenance tasks as necessary or assigned. Participate in maintenance and cleanliness of aircraft hangar, office, and living quarters.

Physical Requirements:

The ability to deal with physical and environmental demands is essential to the job. Lifting to 70lbs routinely and safely, and occasionally heavier items, carrying boxes, bags and various objects. Stretching, climbing, bending, and sitting for extended periods of time. Subject to loud noise and vibration, as well as other motions typical during flight. Climbing is required for getting in and out of aircraft; kneeling and crouching may be required for various tasks. Must be able to stand, lie, and kneel in awkward positions and spaces. Must be able to perform work on scaffolding or ladders. Manual dexterity and physical strength necessary to operate tools or make adjustments and repairs. Must have visual acuity to inspect equipment and identify defects. Must be able to hear well enough to test sounds and identify functioning level of aircraft. Working conditions Working conditions take place both inside and outside, you will be exposed to a range of climate conditions including extreme weather, arctic temperatures, high winds, and reduced visibility. Operations are primarily in remote locations. The length of the duty day may vary. There is perpetual darkness in the winter and sunlight in summer.
