Job Description
Forsyth County Emergency Service Department is seeking an experienced and hardworking EMS Training Officer. This position performs training of all emergency medical services personnel and conducts quality assurance auditing and will be responsible for quality management within EMS?. This position will also assist in managing new employee orientation, employee clinical clearance, and community education. You will be a part of the support staff and management team and instrumental in maintaining the critical mission and operations 24/7. Independent judgment and initiative are required as are tact, courtesy and firmness in dealing with the public and emergency medical services personnel. Work is performed under general supervision and is evaluated through conferences and review of records and reports. Identify trouble shoot I/T issues with software and hardware Talks to civic groups on emergency medical services as directed by Supervisor/Training Division Provides training to community members and groups on emergency medical care and disease/injury prevention Provides initial and continuing education to EMS providers in the Forsyth County EMS System Facilitates new employee orientation for EMS providers. Serves as liaison with other agencies that provide help in emergencies Performs related work as required or assigned by EMS Supervisor/Administration Assists Supervisor in rounding and Performance appraisals. Associate's Degree with major in business administration, emergency medicine, education or related field with at least three years paramedic experience OR high school diploma/GED with at least five years paramedic experience. EMT Paramedic certification required. CPR ACLS and PALS provider certifications required. CPR, ACLS, and PALS Instructor preferred. PHTLS, BTLS, ITLS or an equivalent Trauma Management Course is required

NIMS 300
must be obtained within one year of hiring. North Carolina Office of EMS level 1 Instructor preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience considered.SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Possession of a valid N.C. driver's license. Must possess NC Class B Operator's License required within 1 year of hire.- Achieves and maintains Quick Response Vehicle Paramedic Clearance.
- Plans, researches and develops curriculums providing instruction for EMS personnel in the application of emergency medical and technical procedures and equipment.
- Conducts in-service training, new employee orientation, certification and re-certification educational training.
- Adheres to all State Office of Emergency Medical Service and local requirements for continuing education for all of the training, certification and re-certification of EMS personnel.
- Serves as liaison with State Office Emergency Medical Service and related agencies for re-certification education and audits.
- Develops, administers and grades re-certification examination, maintaining complete security for testing materials and related documents.
- Develops training materials such as study guides.
- Maintains monthly in-service records and sets up computer files for training use.
- Reviews overall program goals and priorities, progress in meeting objectives and status of projects through periodic review of written reports and through conferences.
- Performs quality assurance audits of EMS personnel to ensure that proper protocols and standard operating procedures are being administered in the application of techniques and treatment.
- Conducts field audits and recommends further training when necessary.
- Provides input into the budgetary process and the recruitment and selection process.
- Performs related work as required.
- Maintaining a specific license such as a driver's license in good standing, without a lapse or loss of a privilege to drive in compliance with North Carolina law, and in compliance with applicable DOT standards for commercial motor vehicle drivers if required to perform the duties assigned to the position.
