Driver - Adult Day Program Little Red Hen - 3.6 Chico, CA Job Details Part-time $18 - $20 an hour 20 hours ago Qualifications Customer communication Route driving English CDL Full Job Description Overview We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Driver for our Adult Day Program to provide safe, efficient, and compassionate transportation services. The ideal candidate will possess strong driving skills, excellent communication abilities, and a genuine interest in working with adults requiring specialized care. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of participants by ensuring timely and comfortable transportation while maintaining high safety standards. The Driver will be responsible for transporting clients to and from the program location, adhering to scheduled routes, and fostering a welcoming environment for all passengers. Duties Safely operate various types of vehicles including buses, vans, or specialized transport vehicles to shuttle clients to and from the Adult Day Program. Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety, mechanical functionality, and cleanliness before each journey. Follow designated routes and schedules accurately while adapting to traffic conditions or unforeseen delays. Communicate effectively with clients, staff, and caregivers to coordinate pick-up and drop-off times and address any special needs or concerns. Assist clients with boarding and disembarking vehicles, providing support as needed for individuals with mobility challenges or disabilities. Maintain detailed records of trips, mileage, fuel consumption, and vehicle maintenance reports in compliance with organizational policies. Ensure adherence to all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies to guarantee passenger safety at all times. Foster a respectful and inclusive environment by demonstrating excellent customer service skills and cultural sensitivity. Experience Proven experience in bus driving or commercial driving roles, preferably within healthcare, senior care, or community service settings. Valid driver's license appropriate for the vehicle type (e.g., commercial driver's license or school bus endorsement). Knowledge of paratransit operations, school bus driving protocols, or other specialized transportation services is highly desirable. Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse client populations. Mechanical knowledge sufficient to perform basic vehicle inspections and troubleshoot minor issues. Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities is preferred. Demonstrated ability to maintain professionalism under pressure while delivering excellent customer service.
