Youth Transportation Specialist (Driver) Compassion Planet - 4.4 Sacramento, CA Job Details Part-time $21 - $25 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Stress management Empathy Full Job Description Job Summary We are seeking a reliable, empathetic, and safety-conscious Youth Transportation Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be more than just a driver; you will be a consistent, supportive presence for young adults (ages 18-24) transitioning out of foster care, facing housing instability, or navigating other systemic challenges. Your primary responsibility is to provide safe, timely transportation to and from training sites, connecting our participants to the necessary training for the day.
Key Responsibilities Safe Transit:
Operate organization vehicles to transport participants between designated locations following established schedules.
Mentorship & Rapport:
Maintain a professional yet supportive environment within the vehicle, practicing trauma-informed communication with youth.
Vehicle Maintenance:
Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections (fuel, fluids, tires, cleanliness) and report maintenance needs immediately.
Log Management:
Maintain accurate mileage logs, trip reports, and participant attendance records.
Crisis Management:
De-escalate potential conflicts using trained techniques and follow emergency protocols in the event of an accident or medical issue.
Compliance:
Adhere to all traffic laws, organization policies, and confidentiality (HIPAA/FERPA) standards regarding participant information.
Qualifications & Skills Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of driving experience. Experience working with at-risk populations or young adults is highly preferred. Experience driving a school bus or similar passenger transport is preferred but not required.
Licensing:
Valid California Driver's License with a clean driving record (MVR check required). CDL is a plus but not required.
Character:
Exceptional patience, strong boundaries, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit for extended periods and occasionally assist participants with loading/unloading personal items or supplies (up to 30 lbs).
