Job Description
Overview Join our dynamic team as a NEMT (Non-Emergency Medical Transportation) Driver, specializing in ambulatory and wheelchair accessible vehicles! As a key member of our transportation network, you will be responsible for ensuring punctual pickups and drop-offs while maintaining the highest standards of customer service and safety. Duties Safely operate passenger vehicles including ambulatory and wheelchair accessible vans, ensuring adherence to all traffic laws and safety regulations. Transport clients to medical appointments, therapy sessions, or other scheduled destinations using local driving routes. Assist passengers with boarding, disembarking, and securing mobility devices such as wheelchairs or walkers, demonstrating proper manual handling techniques. Maintain clear communication with clients regarding pickup times, route updates, and any delays to ensure a positive experience. Conduct routine vehicle inspections and basic maintenance checks to guarantee vehicle safety and cleanliness. Use GPS navigation systems to follow optimized routes efficiently while adhering to state transportation regulations. Document trip details accurately in logs and reports, including mileage, client information, and any incidents or concerns during transport. Qualifications Proven experience as a delivery driver, bus driver, chauffeur, shuttle driver, or in similar passenger transportation roles; experience with medical transportation is highly preferred. Valid driver's license appropriate for the vehicle type (e.g., CDL or chauffeur license), with a clean driving record. Familiarity with GPS navigation tools and local driving routes to ensure timely arrivals. Strong communication skills for interacting professionally with clients and team members. Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting passengers or handling mobility equipment safely. Knowledge of state transportation regulations and passenger vehicle operation standards. Experience operating various types of passenger vehicles including vans, shuttle buses, or school buses; limousine or paratransit experience is a plus. Excellent customer service skills with a friendly demeanor and patience when working with clients of all ages and mobility levels.
