School Year Primary Function :
The Nutrition Services Van Driver will enable staff to provide students with a healthy, high quality, nutrition lunch within the guidelines of the Michigan Department of Education School Lunch Program and the Oakland County Health Department consistent with the district's mission statement. Qualifications â€"
Education & Experience :
High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required. Current ServSafe Manager or Food Handler certification is required. Valid state driver's license with a clean driving record. Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform tasks requiring extended periods of standing, walking, and bending. Proven ability to thrive in a high-volume, dynamic environment, manage multiple priorities simultaneously, and adjust focus quickly. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive, cooperative working relationships with students, school personnel, and community members. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a self-directed team member, possessing strong organizational and time-management skills. Maintain a consistent and excellent attendance record and commitment to punctuality. Proficient working knowledge of basic computer operations, including Point-of-Sale (POS) systems (e.g., student account management software) and digital communication tools (e.g., email, scheduling software). Commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality in accordance with privacy laws and District policy. Ability to accurately perform basic mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division). Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and necessary for evolving operational needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections and execute proper sanitation procedures to maintain Food Service delivery vehicles and food caddies in excellent mechanical, clean, and sanitary condition, adhering to all regulatory standards. Execute efficient, timely, and safe delivery of prepared meals, perishable food items, and supplies to all designated school sites and district nutrition programs. Facilitate the delivery and pickup of internal district communications, mail, packages, and financial documents (checks/deposits) as appropriate, ensuring these tasks do not compromise the efficiency of the school nutrition service schedule. Coordinate and execute the professional setup and breakdown of on-site catering services for scheduled events, including School Board Meetings and district functions. Accurately pick up and deliver cash and check deposits to the designated location in a timely and secure manner, maintaining required documentation. Accurately and promptly carry out all operational directives, whether written or verbal, as provided by the Nutrition Services Supervisor. Actively maintain positive public relations with students, staff, and the broader community to uphold a positive image and actively promote the benefits and accessibility of the School Nutrition Program. Meticulously maintain a written deposit log, complete pre-trip reports, and accurately process all other necessary administrative and compliance paperwork using designated digital tools. Strictly adhere to all local, state, and federal traffic laws and operate vehicles in a safe, responsible, and defensive manner. Provide assistance to the district's kitchen staff ("Café Helper" duties) in any district kitchen as required, demonstrating cross-functional support. Be accountable for the efficient use, routine maintenance, and impeccable cleanliness and organization of all assigned kitchen equipment, storage areas, and overall work environment. Maintain regular, reliable, and in-person attendance as scheduled, demonstrating commitment to the team. Actively support and contribute to the overall vision, mission, and strategic goals of Oxford Community Schools. Perform other related duties as assigned to meet the needs of the Nutrition Services department.
