Job Description

An employee in this class will deliver meals to clients on assigned routes and ensure meals are maintained at the appropriate temperature during delivery. Work involves interaction with recipients of the meals delivered to ensure there are no safety or health concerns. Employee will document any instances of concern. Work could involve helping physically challenged recipients to open food containers and ready the meal for consumption. Employee works under the general supervision of the Medicaid Program Evaluator and is evaluated through observation and discussions concerning the effectiveness and efficiency of performed duties. Deliver meals to nutrition program participants on a given route or routes. Responsible for documenting interactions with participants on their route. Report any concerns to the Medicaid Program Evaluator. Responsible for providing companionship and emotional support as this could be the only contact a program participant has. Fill in at nutrition sites as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. Working knowledge of traffic laws and regulations. Knowledge of proper vehicle loading. Ability to prepare and maintain program records, record information about participants, communicate with participants, their families and agency staff and community members. Ability to understand and apply program requirements. Ability to communicate effectively with the population served. Adhere to policies and procedures established for meal delivery and congregate sites. Ability to relate to the social and/or emotional needs of the elderly. Ability to establish and maintain rapport and effective working relationships with participants, their families, supervisors and others. High School Diploma or equivalent. Experience working with the public. Possess a valid NC Driver's License.
