Community Support Driver ZINEniac - 1.0 Teaneck, NJ Job Details Part-time $25 an hour 18 hours ago Qualifications CPR Certification Customer communication In-person customer service CDL High school diploma or GED First Aid Certification Defensive driving Full Job Description Job Overview ZINEniac is seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and dependable Community Support Driver to provide safe and reliable transportation for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). This role is essential in helping participants access educational programs, community activities, medical appointments, employment opportunities, and other meaningful destinations while promoting independence, dignity, and community inclusion. As a Community Support Driver, you will be more than a driver, you will be a trusted professional who creates a welcoming, respectful, and positive experience for every client. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, values safety, and wants to make a meaningful impact in the community. Responsibilities Safely operate passenger vans, wheelchair-accessible vehicles, shuttle buses, or other approved transportation vehicles. Transport participants to and from ZINEniac programs, medical appointments, community outings, educational activities, employment sites, and other approved destinations. Assist participants with boarding and exiting vehicles while encouraging independence and ensuring their safety. Properly secure wheelchairs, mobility devices, and passenger safety equipment when required. Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns promptly. Maintain clean, organized, and well-maintained vehicles that provide a comfortable environment for participants. Keep accurate transportation logs, mileage records, attendance, and incident reports. Communicate professionally with participants, families, supervisors, and dispatch personnel regarding schedules and transportation needs. Follow all company policies, New Jersey Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) requirements, and applicable federal and state transportation regulations. Respond calmly and appropriately during emergencies while prioritizing participant safety at all times. Experience Required Must have a High School Diploma or GED or higher. Must be minimum 21 years of age or older. Must have a valid New Jersey Driver's License with a clean driving record. Ability to pass all required background checks and motor vehicle record (MVR) screening. Have reliable transportation to and from work. Have strong communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills. Ability to assist clients with mobility needs and safely lift or move mobility equipment when necessary. Preferred Experience transporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities, seniors, or individuals with special needs. Previous experience as a shuttle driver, delivery driver, school bus driver, paratransit driver, limousine driver, or commercial passenger driver. Experience operating wheelchair-accessible vehicles. CPR and First Aid Certification. Defensive Driving Certification. Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger Endorsement is preferred but not required.
