15$ per pick up and drop off Duties Safely operate paratransit vehicles, including buses and vans, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking, providing courteous support especially for seniors, children, or individuals with disabilities Ensure the comfort and safety of passengers during transit by managing behavior and addressing individual needs Conduct pre-trip inspections of vehicles to verify mechanical condition and report any issues promptly Communicate clearly with passengers, team members, and dispatch using effective English or multilingual communication skills Maintain accurate records of trips, passenger information, and vehicle maintenance logs Follow all safety protocols and company policies to uphold a secure environment for passengers and staff Skills Proven experience in bus driving, commercial driving, or school bus driving with a valid driver's license suitable for operating large vehicles Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse communities Ability to work with children, seniors, or individuals requiring special assistance with patience and compassion Mechanical knowledge to perform basic vehicle inspections and troubleshoot minor issues Excellent customer service skills to create a welcoming environment for all passengers Experience in behavior management or childcare is advantageous for handling challenging situations effectively Knowledge of paratransit operations, driving safety standards, and relevant regulations is highly desirable Embark on a rewarding career where your driving expertise meets compassionate service! Key Responsibilities:
Safety-Focused Operations:
Execute flawless operations by meticulously following designated routes and schedules, while adhering to stringent safety protocols and traffic regulations.
Passenger Care:
Exhibit exceptional care and assistance towards passengers, ensuring smooth boarding, comfortable rides, and timely disembarkation for all.
Vehicle Vigilance:
Champion vehicle safety through comprehensive pre-trip and post-trip inspections, promptly reporting any maintenance issues, and maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and safety equipment readiness. Adherence to
Protocols:
Uphold company policies and procedures rigorously, encompassing seat belt enforcement, emergency response preparedness, and compliance with regulatory mandates. Operates a transit bus or van and transports passengers with disabilities safely in accordance with Company policy and local, county, state, and federal laws. Provides door-to-door assistance to passengers to safely travel between the vehicle and the door of home or destination. This includes escorting and assisting passengers with disabilities including pushing wheelchairs up and down ramps, assisting passengers up and down stairs, steps and curbs and inclines, assisting passengers on the vehicle and securing passengers and their mobility aids on the vehicle. Other duties as required
Qualifications:
25 years or older Minimum 5 years of driving experience (personal or professional) Excellent communication & customer service skills. Must have or obtain valid driver's license issued in the state of Oregon or Washington before training starts Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed. Must be able to work assigned shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and flexible or split schedules as required by operational needs. Must be able pass a DOT physical and maintain a DOT card throughout employment. Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.
Physical Requirements:
The essential functions of this position require the ability to: Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions-100% of the job is performed outside, work alone and in remote locations. Sit for extended periods (up to 6-8 hours per day); frequently walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces Push and pull objects up to 200 pounds, occasionally throughout the workday; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to files or equipment stored at ground level Operators must have the physical ability to manually push, pull, or stabilize passengers in manual wheelchairs, including navigating curbs, ramps, and uneven surfaces. Assistance may also be needed when operating the vehicle's electronic lift. Must be able to lift, carry, and transport items up to 50 pounds, including mobility aids, service animal accessories, grocery bags, or personal belongings, based on passenger needs. Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job; tolerate exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
