Overview Join our dynamic team as an Ambulatory/Wheelchair Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) Driver! In this vital role, you will provide safe, reliable, and compassionate transportation services to clients requiring assistance getting to medical appointments, therapy sessions, and other essential destinations. Your energetic and customer-focused approach will ensure passengers feel comfortable and cared for during every ride. Responsibilities Safely operate passenger vans, wheelchair accessible vehicles, and other client transportation vehicles along local driving routes, adhering strictly to traffic laws and state transportation regulations. Assist passengers with mobility needs, including wheelchair loading and unloading, ensuring proper manual handling techniques to prioritize safety. Maintain clear communication with clients to confirm pick-up and drop-off locations, provide excellent customer service, and address any special needs or concerns. Conduct routine vehicle inspections and basic maintenance checks to ensure all equipment is in optimal condition for daily use. Navigate efficiently using GPS systems to ensure timely arrivals at destinations while optimizing routes for safety and efficiency. Follow all safety protocols related to heavy lifting, passenger safety, and vehicle operation to ensure a secure environment for clients and staff alike. Document each trip accurately through logs and reports, including mileage, passenger details, and any incidents or irregularities encountered during shifts. Skills Proven delivery driver experience with a strong understanding of local driving routes and navigation tools such as GPS. Experience operating passenger vans, shuttle buses, limousine services, or school buses with a focus on passenger safety and comfort. Familiarity with driver standards or similar chauffeur driving certifications preferred. Knowledge of manual handling procedures for assisting passengers with mobility devices or heavy lifting requirements. Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse clients while maintaining professionalism. Ability to adhere strictly to traffic regulations, state transportation laws, and safety guidelines for medical transportation. Basic vehicle maintenance skills to perform routine inspections and identify potential issues proactively. Excellent communication skills to coordinate with dispatchers, clients, healthcare providers, and team members seamlessly.
