Job Description

I'm looking to hire a reliable, thoughtful, low-drama person to work with me part-time in my home on the east side of Madison. I'm a professional in my 40s. I volunteer with a local nonprofit, I like checking out new bars and restaurants, watching movies, and traveling. I also have a physical disability (SMA), which means I need assistance with some of the physical stuff you do for yourself every day: personal care, getting driven to appointments and events, light housework, and managing the TV, phone, computer, email, etc. I self-direct my own care and manage my own staff. I have a solid crew of about 7 people covering shifts 24/7, and I'm looking to add the right person to the team. If you're burned out, tired of unpredictable income, or just want something steady and low-key, this might be exactly what you're looking for.

Starting pay: $22/hr for anyone (I can pay a lot more if you're a nurse FYI) Monthly raises: $0.50/hr increase every month you reliably work your shifts, for the first year
Hours:
16-32 hours/week. Shifts are 8-12 hours. I'm currently prioritizing morning shifts (starting at 5 AM), overnight shifts (ending at 5 AM), and weekend shifts.
No experience required:
I direct my own care and I'll train you on exactly how I do things.
You work only with me:
This is a direct hire. No agency taking a cut of your paycheck. The environment is chill (yes, there are pets). Every shift involves real physical effort, moving at a pace that keeps up with my day. But there are also long stretches where we're just quietly hanging out, attentively waiting for what's next. The ability to push hard when it counts and then genuinely settle in and sit still when it doesn't is the whole job. If you can only do one or the other, it's probably not the right fit. The biggest things I need from you are reliability, the ability to take direct feedback without taking it personally, and genuine respect and support for how I choose to run my own life.
