Job Description

Overview Embark on an exciting adventure as a Sailboat First Mate, where your leadership, mechanical expertise, and maritime skills will ensure smooth sailing on open waters. This dynamic role offers the opportunity to work closely with the captain, assist in navigation, manage onboard operations, and uphold safety standards. Whether guiding crew members or maintaining rigging systems, your energetic approach and management skills will be vital to creating memorable and safe experiences at sea. Responsibilities Assist the captain with navigation, watchkeeping, and route planning to ensure safe passage Oversee daily onboard operations, including managing crew tasks and maintaining vessel cleanliness Conduct rigging inspections and perform mechanical checks to guarantee all systems function optimally Lead safety drills and enforce safety protocols to protect crew and passengers during all activities Manage onboard supplies, equipment maintenance schedules, and logistical arrangements Support in emergency situations by coordinating communication with rescue services or first responders Teamwork and ensuring adherence to maritime regulations Requirements Age must be 21 and above. Prior experience in maritime environments, preferred but you will learn and demonstrate discipline and leadership skills and be able to gain sailboat knowledge and experience and have documented USCG Sea Duty at the end of season. Strong management abilities to oversee crew activities and onboard operations effectively Solid understanding of rigging systems, mechanical components, and vessel maintenance procedures Mechanical knowledge related to sail handling, engine troubleshooting, and safety equipment upkeep Excellent communication skills for clear coordination with captain, crew, and external agencies Ability to work in diverse weather conditions while maintaining composure and focus Valid maritime certifications or licenses are preferred but not mandatory; relevant training will be provided for qualified candidates
