Job Description

Job Overview Homer Senior Citizens is expanding our Meals on Wheels program to offer HOT meals 7 days a week. HSC is looking for a Part-Time Meals on Wheels Delivery Driver to deliver meals to client's homes Friday, Saturday, and Sunday using a company vehicle throughout the designated Homer delivery area. An ideal Meals on Wheels Delivery Driver would be self-motivated, highly organized, and passionate about helping the senior population. We are looking for a part-time driver to cover the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday delivery route and cover for the other driver when needed. There is also a potential for additional hours as a transportation driver for our residents for outings, appointments, etc. Meals on
Wheels Delivery Driver Responsibilities/Tasks:
Plan efficient delivery routes using mobile devices or route planning tools to maximize punctuality and service quality Deliver meals directly to clients' homes or designated locations with professionalism and courtesy, ensuring proper handling of food items with food safety practices Maintain accurate delivery logs, route documentation, and delivery records in compliance with organizational standards Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding delivery status or any issues encountered during routes Conduct vehicle inspections regularly to ensure safety, cleanliness, and proper functioning of equipment Assures that all food service sanitation standards are practiced Obeys all traffic laws and avoids erratic driving on highways or residential areas
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent Position requires a valid driver's license with a clean driving record Must be able to pass an Alaska Background Check Must pass the State of Alaska Food Handlers course and maintain Must have an acceptable driving record Able to lift 40lbs Must be able to follow driving directions or use a GPS application Good verbal and written communication skills
Skills/Experience Desired:
Strong knowledge of using a cellphone Prior delivery or driving experience Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills Food service experience Excellent communication and problem-solving skills Excellent verbal and written communication
Schedule:
Friday, Saturday, and Sunday Hours:
