- 21.00 Summary
- The School Shuttle Driver is responsible for safely transporting students to school in the mornings and ensuring their well-being during the entirety of the trip.
Responsibilities include:
Safe Transportation:
- Safely operate the school shuttle following established routes and schedules
- Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations to ensure the safety of passengers and pedestrians
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the shuttle is working properly
- Maintain a positive and respectful environment in the shuttle
- Ensure the students board and disembark the shuttle in an orderly manner
- Report any behavioral issues or concerns to the
Facilities Director Communication:
- Maintain open and clear communication with Administration, school staff, parents, and students
- Provide updates on any delays or changes to the transportation schedule to Facilities Director and front office staff
Emergency Response:
- Be prepared to respond to emergencies, including evacuations and first aid situations
- Follow established emergency procedures and protocols
Customer Service:
- Provide excellent customer service to students, parents, and school staff
- Address any concerns or inquires related to transportation
- Handle parent questions regarding scheduling
Vehicle Maintenance:
- Ensure the cleanliness and sanitation of the shuttle
- Report any mechanical issues promptly and follow through with necessary maintenance procedures
- Stay up to date on refueling the shuttle
Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate records of daily routes, mileage, and any incidents that occur during transportation
- Complete required documentation for fueling, maintenance, and other relevant activities
- Record names of students attending the shuttle daily
Compliance:
- Complete all necessary driver training and course required by the organization
- Must have a clean driving record and current driver's license Additional Essential Functions
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and complete tasks promptly
- Ability to accept direction and constructive feedback
- Ability to maintain consistent attendance and punctuality Physical Demands Shuttle drivers spend a good amount of time sitting while operating the vehicle.
- Can lift, push, pull up to 30lbs
- A high school diploma or greater
- Valid CA driver's license
- Clean driving record
- Previous experience in transporting passengers preferred
- Excellent communicative and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations
- Physical ability to perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
- Knowledge of safe driving practices as defined by the California DMV
