Drivers are responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of Community Connections individuals to and from their homes. Communicates with the Day Supervisor any changes in individual behaviors or routine and reports any parent/guardian concerns.QUALIFICATIONS
Must have and maintain a valid Connecticut Driver's License and clean driving record Must be able to obtain and maintain authorization from leased vehicle company to drive handicapped van Must be at least 21 years of age and three years minimum holding a valid driver's license. Must obtain and maintain CPR Experience with adults with intellectual disabilities preferred.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
: Knows and follows emergency procedures, accident reporting requirements and pick up/drop off procedures Maintains required training and attends all meeting/trainings days as required by program. Ensures that individuals get on and off the vehicle in a safe manner. Ensures that seat belts are always worn by everyone when the vehicle is in use. Follows all motor vehicle laws while driving and pulls over when calling or responding to a call. Maintains First Aid, OSHA and cleaning supplies in vehicles and regularly reports the status of fire extinguishers. Performs vehicle checklist daily and submits checklist weekly to Director of Facilities and Operations. Completes required vehicle documentation and submits repair/maintenance requests in a timely manner to the Director of Facilities and Operations. Performs routine maintenance of vehicles, i.e., checks oil levels weekly and replenishes when low, fills gas tank whenever the gauge reads ½ tank. Checks washer fluid and replenish when needed. Keeps the vehicle clean inside and out. Knows and complies with all policies and procedures noted in the West Haven Community House driver handbook. Performs other duties as required.VAN DRIVER
