Job Description:
The Van Driver supports millwork delivery operations by transporting doors, windows, trim, and related building materials to customers, contractors, and job sites using a non-CDL van truck. This role combines safe vehicle operation, professional customer service, and hands-on warehouse support, including staging orders and general material handling. The ideal candidate maintains a positive attitude, works effectively with the team, and consistently represents the company professionally.
- Responsibilities Deliver doors, windows, trim, and other millwork products to contractors, job sites, and customers using a company non-CDL van truck.
Load, secure, and unload building materials to ensure accurate, safe, and damage-free transport. Inspect deliveries for accuracy, completeness, and quality before leaving the warehouse and upon arrival at the customer site. Assist with warehouse operations, including staging orders, organizing materials, and general material handling when not on delivery routes. Operate the delivery vehicle safely in all weather and climate conditions while following company guidelines and DOT-related safety practices. Provide professional, courteous communication and customer service during all deliveries and interactions at job sites and customer locations. Collaborate with warehouse and delivery team members to coordinate routes, resolve issues, and ensure timely and accurate deliveries. Follow all safety procedures for loading, unloading, and handling materials, including the use of appropriate equipment such as forklifts when authorized and trained. Maintain a clean, organized delivery vehicle and report any maintenance or safety concerns promptly to operations leadership. Perform additional duties as assigned by operations leadership to support delivery and warehouse functions.
- Essential Skills Valid driver's license with an insurable driving record.
Ability to lift, carry, and handle building materials safely for the duration of the workday. Dependable attendance and strong reliability in meeting schedule and delivery commitments. Clear and professional verbal communication skills for interacting with customers, contractors, and team members. Team-oriented mindset with a positive attitude and commitment to excellent customer service. Ability to operate a non-CDL delivery truck safely in various weather and road conditions. Capability to work in a field-based delivery role that includes frequent loading, unloading, and material handling.
- Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in warehouse, construction materials, or millwork environments.
Familiarity with material handling practices, including staging orders and organizing inventory. Experience operating a forklift or similar material handling equipment (where properly trained and authorized). Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities between driving and warehouse support. Basic understanding of safety practices related to delivery driving and material handling.

- Work Environment This is a field-based delivery role where most work occurs on routes to customer sites and job locations, combined with warehouse support responsibilities when not driving.
The position follows a full-time, standard daytime schedule, providing consistent hours. The Van Driver works closely with warehouse and delivery teams and reports to operations leadership in a collaborative, team-focused environment. Deliveries take place in all weather conditions, so the role involves regular exposure to outdoor elements and varying climate conditions. The work includes frequent lifting and handling of building materials and the use of material handling equipment, such as forklifts, where appropriate training and authorization are provided. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Grimes, IA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr.
