DEPARTMENT FUNCTION/JOB OVERVIEW
Responsible for the safe transportation of customers to and from Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital and the community to meet their various health care needs.
Duties include:
driving, escorting clients to and from the vehicle, and preventive maintenance/care of vehicle. Work will be performed in an ethical and legal manner following organizational policies, processes, protocols and procedures. Responsible for quality service delivery and internal/external customer relations for Madonna as a whole, including upholding the mission and values for the department and facility.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Record daily/weekly/monthly statistics regarding passengers, mileage, vehicle check to ensure a safe and accurate transportation process. Assist in the scheduling and dispatching of services to ensure maximum usage of the system. Communicate daily with family and customers to ensure their needs are met. Escort customers to and from vehicle to their point of origin and destination to ensure a safe delivery. Follow instruction from supervisor to perform other functions as assigned in order to achieve the goals within the department and/or system. Inspect vehicle as scheduled to ensure safe transportation. Monitor fluid levels and keep filled to ensure safe transportation. Keep vehicle clean internally and externally to provide a positive image to the customers. This can include cleaning up of biohazardous waste. Maintain and ensure a safe environment for the department. Handles and operates all necessary equipment and performs required duties according to established safety standards to maintain compliance with regulations and prevent injury.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Outdoor work-exposed to changing extreme temperatures. Medium work with frequent lifting not to exceed the equivalent of 50 pounds of force to lift, push or pull. Requires sufficient strength to produce of force to push a wheelchair on even or uneven surfaces. Occasional walking with maximum duration of up to 30 minutes sustained walking on surfaces. Must tolerate frequent sitting with sustained periods of up to 1 hour. Frequent reaching with both arms at low, waist and high levels. Frequent grasping of steering wheel with both hands requiring normal grip strength based on national averages. Frequent stooping, bending, and twisting are required for patient care. Constant near visual acuity to evaluate and monitor patients. Ordinary hearing and speaking skills. May be exposed to biohazardous materials. Stress associated with road conditions, traffic and emergency situations. Must be able to comply with universal precautions procedures. Mobility required for travel to scheduled events or meetings as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
(Education/training and/or Experience) Must be 19 years of age or older. High school diploma or equivalent required. 6 months driving experience preferred. (Experience is defined as having driven a vehicle larger than a car or minivan to transport people on a schedule.) 6 months working with people in a health care environment preferred. Requires current Module C CPR certification within 1 month of hire. Must have valid Nebraska driver's license and proof of good driving record to meet insurance requirements.
