A Sales Delivery Driver drives a truck or other vehicle over established routes or within an established territory and sells or delivers goods, such as food products, including restaurant take-out items, or pick up or deliver items such as commercial laundry. May also take orders, collect payment, or stock merchandise at point of delivery. Includes newspaper delivery drivers. Excludes gig economy drivers.
The Somerset County Federated Library System seeks an enthusiastic, service-oriented, hands-on individual or individuals to serve as a Bookmobile Driver. The Bookmobile Driver plays a key role in making library services accessible to all residents of Somerset County. The Bookmobile Driver is responsible for the following items regarding the Bookmobile and associated mechanical systems (generator, lift, HVAC, etc.): driving record-keeping basic routine maintenance cleanliness scheduling/coordination of routine and non-routine mechanical maintenance, inspections, and repair work done by others timely and safe arrival at scheduled stops, and assisting Bookmobile Manager with tasks such as re-shelving library materials, retrieving requested library materials, and carrying library materials to and from locations as needed.
Full-Time, Part-Time, or Seasonal :
This position is normally full-time at a minimum of 35 hours per week. However, we are willing to consider part-time job-sharing arrangements where multiple people work 1 to 3 days per week in order to carry out the job duties. As a full-time position, the Bookmobile Driver typically works Monday through Thursday for an average of 35 hours per week with additional hours possible for participation in special events such as parades. As a full-time position, benefits include some paid holidays, when a holiday falls on a day for which the Bookmobile Driver would normally be scheduled to work.
Requirements:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 1 to 3 months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid PA driver's license appropriate for driving all library vehicles (currently, Class B Non-Commercial or Commercial Driver's License without air-brake restriction), acceptable motor vehicle record, continuous insurability, and proven competency operating and maintaining vehicles comparable to the Bookmobile.
Note:
SCFLS will provide some training and driving practice time and use of the vehicle in order to assist the right candidate(s) in attaining a Class B Non-Commercial Driver's License without air-brake restriction. Pay Rate:
