Skagit County Viva Farms is a non-profit Farm Business Incubator and Training Program. Position Overview Viva Farms manages several sales channels for incubator farmers, including a wholesale produce distribution program and a community-supported agriculture (CSA) program. This position will be integral to executing these two programs by receiving and carefully organizing product that farmers deliver, and preparing orders for deliveries and pick-ups. In addition, this position will perform several delivery driving shifts weekly, and will be available as a back-up driver if the primary driver is unavailable. This position is dynamic and physical, while also requiring careful attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and demonstrated commitment to safety.

Job Responsibilities:

• Receive farm-fresh product that farmers will deliver to Viva Farms' Distribution Facility, including carefully matching farmers' deliveries to their purchase orders, inspecting product quality and condition upon arrival, and noting any discrepancies
• Properly pack pallets and organize product in cooler according to delivery routes and pick-ups
• On pick up and delivery days, support Viva Farms' or other vendors' drivers with loading trucks
• Promptly communicate product shortages to Sales Manager
• Maintain clean and organized cooler and wash/pack facilities, and perform weekly deep cleaning and sanitation protocols
• Clean and sanitize CSA crates weekly
• Maintain updated records related to food safety standard operating procedures
• Safely deliver organic produce and other food products from Skagit County to customers in Seattle and Bellingham
• Efficiently and carefully load and unload trucks to preserve product quality.
• Accurately deliver orders according to invoices and other instructions
• Provide excellent customer service and represent Viva Farms in a friendly and professional manner
• Clearly and honestly communicate with Viva Farms Sales Team and other Viva Farms staff
• Accurately complete delivery log during each delivery shift
• Clean and sanitize truck after each shift
• Maintain a positive attitude throughout the long days!

Required Qualifications:

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, physical environment, often independently, including ability to move large pallets of produce and lift 50+ lbs.
• Careful attention to detail

• Very safe driving practices and a clean driving record

• Reliable transportation to our farm location
• Strong proficiency in

English Preferred Qualifications:

• Proficiency in spoken Spanish
• Experience driving a 16-foot box truck (no CDL required)
• Experience operating a forklift
• Excellent customer service skills
• Experience working with farm-fresh produce

Commitment and Schedule:

• Avg. 40 hours/week (schedule fluctuates with season-some flexibility required)

Work Week:

Monday-Friday

• Working hours: 5am start time

December:

$1000 season completion bonus
