Full Job Description Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Master of Towing Vessels to operate and lead tug operations in San Francisco Bay and surrounding waters. The ideal candidate is a confident mariner with strong local knowledge, excellent crew leadership skills, and a commitment to regulatory compliance and operational excellence.Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the operator-in-charge of towing vessels, conducting marine construction support, ship stores deliveries, and offshore towing Lead and manage onboard crew operations, including training, safety drills, and work assignments Conduct routine inspections of vessel systems and coordinate maintenance needs with shoreside personnel Ensure compliance with all USCG, company, and environmental regulations Complete required logs, reports, and documentation accurately and timely Communicate effectively with dispatch, port captains, and clientsQualifications:
Valid USCG Master of Towing Vessels license (Near Coastal or Oceans preferred) Proven proficiency in barge handling, ship assist, and wire towing Strong working knowledge of San Francisco Bay and/or West Coast towing operations TWIC card and current USCG Medical Certificate Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and emergency call-outsSimilar jobs in San Francisco, CA
