Job Description

Position Summary The Delivery Captain serves as an expert in boat operation, engine maintenance, boat systems, electronics, and accessories. He/she performs new and used boat deliveries demonstrating that all systems are functioning in accordance with manufacturer specifications and Riverside standards while teaching the customer proper operation of their new vessel. He/she maintains a close working relationship with service manager, sales manager, service advisors, sales consultants, and technicians, and strives to create a quality customer experience on their delivery day. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Verify that all systems are set up and working correctly after technician completes all rigging and pre-delivery inspection. Complete final inspection of vessel after detailing is complete to ensure boat is ready for delivery Complete comprehensive walkthrough with customers on delivery day explaining and demonstrating proper location, operation, and maintenance of all engine(s), systems, and electronics. Upsell parts and accessories available in parts store during delivery process Complete all required paperwork and have customers sign off that vessel is 100% operational and without mechanical or cosmetic defects Transport boats to and from customer slips/lifts and Riverside Marine by water Transport boats to and from customer homes/marinas and Riverside Marine by trailer Seatrial boats for sales department with potential customers Seatrials and test runs to assist technicians with diagnostics and quality control seatrials after repairs are completed Perform basic rigs and pre-delivery inspections on new boats Yard organization via use of forklift and tractor Light mechanical repairs and maintenance as needed Assist as back up to sales team as needed Complete trade checks of brokered boats and trade-ins Assist with coordination of move in and out of major boat shows and offsite events as needed Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Strong commitment to providing exceptional customer service with professionalism and efficiency Operation of vessels from 15'-40' powered by outboards and sterndrives from single engine to quad engines Operation of Simrad and Garmin electronics including but not limited to radar, autopilot, sonar, night vision, trolling motors, and stereos Operation of systems including but not limited to Seakeeper, A/C and D/C systems, inverters, water systems, and trim tabs Knowledge of proper care and maintenance on boats and engines Trailering and towing experience. Boating Certification:
Must possess a valid boater's license Six pack captain's license preferred
Computer Proficiency:
knowledge of Microsoft 365; experience with LightSpeed DMS preferred
Industry Experience:
Minimum of five years in boat sales/service/operation
Travel:
Willingness and ability to travel as needed
Boating Knowledge:
Hands-on experience with boats required; Fishing experience preferred
Trailering Skills:

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The workplace noise level ranges from moderate to loud. Temperature conditions are varying in winter and hot in summer, especially in the shop and outdoor areas. Outdoor work is frequently required, including tasks performed on the water.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to stand, sit or crouch for extended periods Regularly required to walk, use hands and fingers for handling objects and perform fine motor tasks Frequent stooping, kneeling, bending and reaching Strong verbal communication skills are essential Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
