$18/hour + Tips + Overtime Full-Time | Year-Round Work | Weekly Pay Big Fish Moving Company is looking for an experienced Lead Mover / Crew Leader to become part of our team. We've been fortunate to build a great reputation in our community, and we don't take that for granted. Many of our customers come back to us for their next move or recommend us to friends and family. We believe that has a lot to do with the people we put in our customers' homes every day. Right now, we're looking for someone with professional moving experience who is ready to bring that experience to Big Fish, get to know our team and the way we operate, and eventually take responsibility for leading their own crew. This particular position is for an experienced mover rather than an entry-level candidate. The Experience We're Looking For You don't need to know everything, and we certainly don't expect every moving company to do things exactly the way we do. We are, however, looking for someone who already has a solid background working for a professional moving company and is comfortable with the fundamentals of the job, including: Padding, wrapping, and protecting furniture properly Loading and unloading moving trucks safely and efficiently Knowing how to build and secure a good truck load Handling large, heavy, and awkward household items Protecting customers' floors, walls, doorways, furniture, and belongings Using dollies, hand trucks, straps, moving pads, and basic tools Working efficiently as part of a moving crew Communicating comfortably and professionally with customers Experience as a Lead Mover, Crew Leader, or in a similar role is strongly preferred . We'd especially like to find someone who has experience directing a load, keeping a crew organized, communicating with customers, and handling the little decisions that come up throughout a move. We'll teach you how Big Fish does things. We're simply looking for someone who already has the moving experience to build on. What Being a Lead at Big Fish Looks Like Our leads are very much part of the crew. You'll be working alongside your team while also helping make sure the job stays organized and the customer is taken care of. That includes helping plan and organize the load, keeping the crew moving, communicating with the customer, completing job paperwork, taking care of our equipment, and communicating with management when questions or unexpected situations come up. Over time, you may also help train newer crew members and bring ideas or feedback to us about ways we can continue improving. We give our leads quite a bit of independence in the field, so we value someone who can make good decisions while also knowing when to pick up the phone and communicate with us. Your First Week With Us No matter how much moving experience you have, starting with a new company takes a little time. During your first week, you'll work alongside one of our experienced Lead Movers and an established crew. You'll get familiar with our morning routine, trucks and equipment, paperwork, customer-service expectations, moving procedures, and simply how we do things day to day. It also gives you a chance to get to know us and the crew you'll be working with. As you get comfortable with our operation and we get comfortable with your abilities, you'll begin taking on more responsibility and working toward leading jobs and crews independently. The Kind of Person Who Does Well Here Beyond experience, we're hoping to find someone who takes pride in their work and enjoys being part of a good team. Someone who shows up, works hard alongside their crew, treats customers well, communicates openly, takes care of equipment and other people's property, and can stay level-headed when a moving day doesn't go exactly according to plan will fit in well here. We also appreciate people who bring something to the table. If your experience has taught you a better way to do something or you notice something we could improve, we want you to feel comfortable speaking up. Company shirts are provided. Tattoos and piercings are perfectly fine. We simply ask everyone representing Big Fish to come to work clean, put together, and professional , with safe and appropriate footwear. Drug-Free Workplace & Employment Requirements We want Big Fish to be a safe and dependable workplace for everyone on our team and for the customers who trust us in their homes. Big Fish Moving Company is a drug-free workplace , and employment is contingent upon successfully completing a pre-employment drug screening and background check . Because our Lead Movers may drive company trucks, you'll also need a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record . We complete an MVR check before approving employees to drive company vehicles. Additional drug testing may be required in accordance with company policy and applicable law. What the Schedule Looks Like Our teams typically meet each morning between 8:00 and 8:30 AM at our truck and equipment location in the Foley area, and most customer jobs begin around 9:00 AM . The end of the day depends on the moves we have scheduled, so finish times can vary. Some days are shorter and some are longer. Saturday availability is important, but we are closed on Sundays . We also handle long-distance moves, so there may occasionally be opportunities for travel or overnight trips. One thing we're proud of is that we stay busy year-round . We're looking for someone who wants consistent work and a place where they can become an important part of the team. Pay & Perks Starting pay is $18/hour. Everyone coming into this Lead Mover position will start at $18 while learning our operation and working alongside our team. From there, we'll evaluate performance as you demonstrate your moving experience, reliability, customer service, and ability to lead.
