Interwest Transportation has an immediate opening for a Local Class A CDL Driver based out of our Prescott Valley, Arizona location. This is a full-time, Monday through Friday position, generally operating between 5:00 AM and 5:00 PM, with drivers home every night. Local Drivers are responsible for the safe and timely pickup and delivery of freight for dedicated customers throughout Arizona, with occasional deliveries to the Las Vegas, Nevada area. The position involves operating Class A commercial motor vehicles while providing reliable, professional service to our customers and maintaining compliance with all applicable safety regulations and Company requirements.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Safety and Compliance Perform required pre-trip inspections before operating assigned equipment and post-trip inspections at the completion of the workday or driving assignment in accordance with company procedures and applicable regulations. Promptly document and report vehicle defects, maintenance needs, damage, or other safety concerns identified during inspections or operation. Safely operate tractor-trailer combination vehicles in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations and company policies and procedures. Remain alert and attentive at all times while operating company vehicles and equipment. Safely operate vehicles in varying weather, road, and traffic conditions and adjust driving practices as necessary to account for changing conditions. Inspect and secure cargo in accordance with applicable FMCSA regulations and company procedures. Comply with applicable Hours of Service requirements and accurately record duty status using an Electronic Logging Device (ELD) or other authorized method when permitted or required. Immediately report accidents, vehicle damage, roadside inspection issues, citations, equipment defects, and other safety-related incidents in accordance with company procedures. Customer Service and Operations Assist with loading and unloading trailers at customer facilities as required. Provide courteous, professional, and responsive service when interacting with customers, vendors, company personnel, and the public. Spot, move, or reposition trailers at customer or company facilities as needed. Maintain assigned equipment in a clean and serviceable conditions, including sweeping trailers, visual inspecting tires and equipment, and performing minor driver-authorized maintenance when appropriate. Verify that require vehicle documentation, permits, registration, insurance information, and other required documents are present and current. Communicate delays, delivery issues, equipment problems, customer concerns, and other operational issues to dispatch or management in a timely manner. Documentation and Attention to Detail Accurately complete and submit required paperwork, electronic records, inspection reports, delivery documentation, and other records within established timeframes. Plan and follow routes using Company-approved truck routes and comply with applicable vehicle restrictions. Follow Company policies, procedures, safety requirements, and operational instructions. Maintain familiarity with and comply with applicable FMCSA regulations governing commercial motor vehicle operations. Qualifications Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) appropriate for the equipment operated. One (1) to two (2) years of verifiable experience operating Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMVs), or an equivalent combination of training and experience acceptable to the Company. Current and valid DOT medical certification, when required. Ability to satisfy applicable FMCSA driver qualification requirements and Company Driver Qualification standards. Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and driving history in accordance with Company and insurance requirements. Strong customer service and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment. Ability to maintain accurate records and pay close attention to detail. Driving Record and Eligibility Requirements Drivers must continuously satisfy applicable federal and state driver qualification requirements, Company Driver Qualification standards, and applicable insurance requirements. Unless otherwise approved in accordance with Company policy and applicable law, applicants and drivers must meet the following standards: No more than two (2) moving violations within the preceding three (3) years. No more than one (1) chargeable or preventable motor vehicle accident within the preceding three (3) years. No convictions involving the operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol or drugs within the preceding seven (7) years. No convictions for careless or reckless driving within the preceding three (3) years. No disqualifying offenses involving the operation of a CMV as established by applicable federal or state law. Must remain eligible to operate a CMV under applicable FMCSA regulations and Company requirements. Must not be prohibited by applicable federal or state law from possessing or transporting firearms or ammunition in interstate commerce. Criminal history will be evaluated in accordance with applicable law and Company policy, considering factors including the nature and gravity of the offense, its relationship to the position, the time elapsed since the offense or completion of sentence, the individual's subsequent history, and applicable safety, insurance, and regulatory requirements. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Working knowledge of applicable FMCSA safety regulations and commercial motor vehicle operating requirements. Ability to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, understand highway traffic signs and signals, respond to official inquiries, and make entries on required reports and records, as required by applicable FMCSA regulations. Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Strong customer service skills. Ability to safely operate tractor-trailer combination vehicles and related equipment. Basic proficiency with computers, smartphones, tablets, ELDs, and other electronic devices used in the performance of assigned duties. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work independently with limited supervision. Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to changing road, traffic, weather, equipment, and operational conditions. Physical Requirements Must be physically qualified to operate a Commercial Motor Vehicle and maintain required DOT medical certification, when applicable. Ability to safely enter and exit tractors, trailers, and other Company equipment. Ability to climb steps, bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, reach, and work in positions necessary to inspect vehicles and equipment. Ability to visually inspect underneath, around, and within tractors and trailers as necessary to perform required inspections. Ability to assist with loading and unloading trailers and securing cargo. Ability to handle cargo securement equipment, vehicle doors, landing gear, and other equipment associated with tractor-trailer operations. Ability to couple and uncouple tractor-trailer combinations and connect or disconnect air and electrical lines. Ability to sit and operate a Commercial Motor Vehicle for extended periods of time. Working Conditions Local Drivers routinely work in outdoor and industrial environments and may be exposed to varying and potentially adverse weather conditions, including cold, snow, ice, rain, wind, and excessive heat. The position requires regular operation of Commercial Motor Vehicles on public roadways and work at Company facilities, customer locations, loading docks, warehouses, parking areas, and other transportation-related environments. Work schedules may vary based on customer requirements, delivery schedules, traffic, weather, and operational needs. Drivers may be required to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, or extended hours as permitted by applicable Hours-of-Service regulations.
