Responsibilities Operate tractor-trailers, including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, and tankers, on over-the-road (OTR) routes with precision and care. Safely load and unload freight, ensuring cargo is secured properly using logistics cargo handling techniques. Navigate routes efficiently using GPS navigation systems, planning optimal delivery schedules while adhering to DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations. Transport hazardous materials (hazmat) and dangerous goods in compliance with hazardous materials regulations and FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) standards. Conduct thorough vehicle inspections before and after trips to ensure compliance with safety standards, including manual handling procedures for cargo. Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery records, and inspection reports in accordance with DOT regulations. Communicate effectively with dispatch teams to coordinate deliveries, report issues, or delays promptly. Skills Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including delivery driving and route driving across diverse terrains. Familiarity with operating refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and tractor-trailers with manual transmissions. Strong knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT rules, hazardous materials regulations, and safety protocols for truck loading/unloading. Skilled in using GPS navigation systems for route planning and real-time adjustments during trips. Ability to handle logistics cargo handling tasks efficiently while maintaining safety standards. Excellent driving skills with a clean driving record; experience with over-the-road (OTR) routes preferred. Knowledge of automobile transportation laws and experience with freight transport involving dangerous goods or hazardous materials is a plus.
