Job Description

Overview:
We are seeking a dependable, customer-focused Farmers Market Lead - Driver Backup to represent our bakery at local farmers markets. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys early mornings, working outdoors, and engaging with the community, all while showcasing delicious baked goods. As Lead - Driver Backup, you are responsible for setting up the market booth, maintaining a clean and inviting display, handling sales transactions, restocking inventory, and providing excellent customer service throughout the day. This position requires physical stamina, a proactive attitude, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. You'll also play a key role in training new staff and ensuring all food safety standards are met. Once a month, you will be scheduled as the driver to maintain practice for when called upon to cover if the main Driver calls out or has a planned day off.
Responsibilities:
  • Dependable, punctual and ready to work at 6:00AM.
  • Accurately load and unload the van with all items needed to operate the booth.
  • Drive the van safely from the bakery to Farmers Market destinations (once a month and as needed if the main Driver is unavailable).
  • Secure boxes and tools in the van to avoid shifting during driving.
  • Set up the booth. This includes setting up mesh canopy and tables, arranging products for display, setting up the hand washing station, etc. All this to be done before the booth officially opens for business.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of the booth.
  • Keep products displayed and arranged neatly.
  • Train onboarding employees according to Farmers Market manual training protocols.
  • Restock and keep track of inventory and sales.
  • Maintain cleanliness and integrity of farmer's market equipment.
  • Interact with Health Inspectors when required.
  • Report any arising issues to the Farmers Market Supervisor.
  • Consolidate leftover products and sales at the end of the day.
  • Replace any needed packing supplies.
  • Flexible and able to cover shifts when needed.
  • Report any issues with the van including accidents to the Farmers Market Supervisor.
