Job Description

Transports prepared foods and food service supplies to district sites, serves on a meal line, acts as a cashier, and performs related duties as necessary.
CURRENT VACANCY
One part-time position (6 hrs./day, 9.25 mos./yr.), with district-paid benefits for the employee only .
Note:
Positions in this classification require traveling to various sites within district boundaries (Glendale, La Crescenta or Montrose). Possession of a valid State of California Class C driver's license and proof of insurance are required.

https://www.schooljobs.com/careers/gusd/classspecs. Review and confirm with supervisor all catering events. Prepare and deliver all the items necessary to properly complete a catered event. Ensure that all catering equipment is in good working condition at all times. Ensure that all catered events are set-up and broken down in the appropriate manner. Ensure that all supplies are cleaned and put away after each catered event. Ensure that food is handled at proper temperatures during all stages of preparation, delivery, service, and cleanup. Load, count, and unload food trays, pans, and boxes into a transport vehicle for deliveries. Deliver food service supplies to and from District sites. Perform regular visual safety inspections and clean a transport vehicle. Set up serving area, serve on the meal line, act as cashier, and keep daily records. Act as a cook at barbeques as necessary. Transport propane canisters to a vendor for servicing. Perform related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements :
Six months of experience in a quantity food service operation.
License or Certificate :
Possession of a valid State of California Class C driver's license and proof of insurance.
CONTINUING EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
The required continuing education/training will be paid for by the district. Each year, at least 6 hours of annual continuing education/training including topics such as: Free and reduced price eligibility. Application certification and verification procedures. The identification of reimbursable meals at the point of service. Nutrition, health, and safety standards. Any specific topics required by the USDA, Food Nutrition Services as needed to address program integrity or other critical issues.
Desirable :
Written and oral proficiency in a second language.
Knowledge of :
Basic food service measurements, procedures, and equipment used in serving foods in quantity. Applicable health and sanitation requirements. Ability to : Operate a light vehicle (under 16,000 lbs. GVW). Work independently without close supervision. Follow oral and written instructions. Follow applicable health and sanitation requirements. Lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds. Handle money and complete simple records. Work efficiently under rush conditions and perform physically demanding tasks. Establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships. Be insured at standard vehicle liability and property damage insurance rates and maintain insurability. Salary :
Salary amounts listed above indicate the first and last steps of the range. Probationary period : 130 days of paid service. After an offer of employment , a candidate must submit evidence of freedom from tuberculosis, fingerprint clearance with the Department of Justice, and a pre-employment physical exam (district-paid). The onboarding process includes legally mandated training(s) and reference checks. In addition, pursuant to Senate Bill 848 (SB 848), the District is required to conduct reference checks that include inquiry into whether the applicant has ever been the subject of a credible complaint, investigation, or disciplinary action related to child abuse, sexual misconduct, or sexual harassment.
