- What You'll Do Operate company vehicles safely and consistently on public roads for autonomous driving development and testing activities Drive test routes while maintaining precise vehicle positioning, smooth acceleration, braking, cornering, and speed control Monitor road conditions, surrounding vehicles, pedestrians, and vehicle behavior throughout each drive Recognize unusual vehicle behavior, safety concerns, and changes in driving conditions and respond appropriately Provide clear and timely feedback about vehicle behavior and driving conditions to engineering and operations teams Document driving observations, incidents, vehicle conditions, and other relevant information accurately Perform basic pre-drive and post-drive vehicle checks Follow established test procedures, safety protocols, and operational instructions Communicate proactively with team members regarding issues, concerns, delays, or anything that may affect safe vehicle operation Support vehicle preparation and other development-driving activities as needed•What We're Looking For Valid California driver's license Strong driving record with no history of serious traffic violations or at-fault accidents that would prevent qualification under our commercial auto insurance requirements Extensive regular driving experience and currently drives on a frequent basis Professional driving experience or other demonstrated experience requiring a high level of vehicle control, safety, and situational awareness Strong sense of vehicle dimensions, positioning, braking distance, acceleration, and surrounding traffic conditions Ability to operate a vehicle smoothly, precisely, and consistently in a variety of road and traffic environments Strong defensive-driving skills and sound judgment in unexpected or high-pressure situations Ability to observe vehicle behavior and road conditions carefully and communicate those observations clearly Proactive communication skills — able to report issues, ask questions, and escalate safety concerns without waiting to be prompted Comfortable following detailed procedures and documenting driving-related observations Reliable, safety-conscious, and able to work independently while staying closely aligned with a remote or on-site team•Preferred Qualifications Previous experience as an autonomous vehicle or ADAS test driver/operator Experience supporting autonomous driving, ADAS, vehicle testing, data collection, or vehicle development Professional driving experience such as chauffeur, commercial transportation, fleet operations, test driving, or other safety-critical driving roles Motorsports, advanced driving, vehicle testing, or professional driver training experience Experience providing structured feedback to engineers or technical teams Experience reviewing driving or vehicle data and using it to improve driving performance Team lead, training, coaching, or management experience Familiarity with different vehicle characteristics, drivetrains, vehicle sizes, and handling behavior•What Success Looks Like Successful drivers in this role do more than safely move a vehicle from one location to another.
