I6061H-FR The LA County Board of Supervisors has unanimously ratified a Proclamation of Local Emergency in response to the windstorms and wildfires, including the Palisades and Eaton Fires, that have devastated communities across the County. We are looking for qualified and passionate individuals to assist the County in mobilizing resources and support needed to help our residents recover and rebuild. If you are looking for a new career that will directly benefit the population of LA County, this may be the opportunity for you. The Department of Beaches and Harbors is seeking qualified candidates to fill emergency Refuse Truck Helper vacancies related to this unprecedented natural disaster. Under the emergency order, applicants who meet the requirements may be hired for an initial period of up to 90 days, with an opportunity for permanent County employment. During your initial work period, you will be assessed on your work performance. This assessment will be weighted 100%. Those who successfully pass the assessment will be considered for permanent appointment to Refuse Truck Helper . Loads refuse from cans and other containers into packer trucks on regular pick-up schedules along County Beaches and other County properties. Carries cans from its permanent location, empties contents into a packer truck, and returns can to its original location. Removes trash, wood, sand, and debris from the beach and parking lots. Operates accessory equipment on packer trucks, such as hydraulic lifts, hydraulic rams, etc. Assists a Heavy Truck Driver in maintaining a packer truck by performing preventive maintenance, including lubrication, oil changes, etc. Maintains daily maintenance logs, safety inspection sheets, and writes accident reports, as needed. Cleans packer trucks. Assists in emptying contents of a truck at dump sites. Assists in replacing trash cans on the beach, in parking lots, and in access ways; also assists in removing stockpiles from various beach sites. May occasionally drive a packer truck or a flat bed and dump truck.

REQUIREMENTS TO QUALIFY

No training or experience is required.

LICENSE:

A valid California Class C driver license

• is required to perform job-related essential functions. Either a valid California Class A or B driver license

• must be obtained prior to completion of the six (6) month probationary period.

PHYSICAL CLASS IV

ARDUOUS:

This class involves frequent heavy lifting over 25 pounds, often combined with bending, twisting, or working above ground on irregular surfaces. It includes those positions that occasionally demand extraordinary physical activity such as those in safety positions.

EXAMINATION CONTENT

During your initial work period, the appointing department will evaluate your performance. Those who achieve a passing score on this evaluation will be considered for permanent appointment.
