Job Description

Apply Class A Driver (Mon-Fri 6AM - 2:30PM) Newark, CA Apply Description The Class A Driver role focuses on transporting goods between local warehouses and airports, ensuring accuracy and on-time delivery. Because the position requires access to secure areas within airports, employment is contingent upon successfully passing a TSA-mandated federal background check and complying with all airport security regulations. Candidates must demonstrate proven experience navigating routes in all weather conditions. The Class A Driver is responsible for performing scheduled pick-up and delivery operations along assigned routes, as well as any additional drop-off or pick-up locations as needed. Light material handling, including loading and unloading the truck, is required. The position operates in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment where a strong sense of urgency and commitment to customer service are essential.
Requirements Responsibilities and Duties:
Safely operate trucks for scheduled deliveries, including airport locations Comply with TSA and airport security protocols when accessing restricted areas Ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods while maintaining all safety and security standards Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, fueling and securement of cargo in compliance with DOT and Federal Cargo Safety Requirements (e.g. tarping, strapping, chaining as needed) Maintain accurate records, including driver logs and delivery documentation Execute assigned delivery routes and assist with additional pick-ups or drop-offs as needed Support route coverage in the absence of other drivers and assist with loadouts to ensure safe and efficient operations Communicate any route delays, safety concerns, or vehicle issues promptly to the supervisor Keep assigned vehicle and terminal work area clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards Report maintenance needs immediately to promptly schedule repairs Ensure proper handling and documentation of hazardous materials when applicable Adhere to company policies, DOT regulations, and all safety protocols at all times Provide courteous and professional service during customer interactions Assist with loading and unloading cargo when required Contribute to route planning and adjustments based on traffic, weather, and operational needs Participate in safety meetings and ongoing training programs Other duties as assigned
Abilities:
Lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Stand, walk, and/or sit for extended periods (8-10 hours per shift) Maintain accurate records and documentation Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment Respond quickly and effectively to route changes, delays, or unexpected challenges Communicate clearly with dispatch, supervisors, and customers Ability to adapt to changing priorities and high-volume demands Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external partners Prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently in a fast-paced setting Demonstrate a strong sense of urgency and commitment to customer service Safe driving practices in all weather and traffic conditions Qualifications & Skills needed: High school diploma or equivalent Required to pass TSA background screening for airport deliveries Experience with airport deliveries and familiarity with TSA security procedures is required Valid Class A driver's license (CDL) Clean driving record with no major violations 2-3 years of experience transporting hazardous waste/chemicals Strong math, writing, and verbal communication skills Customer-focused with a commitment to quality service Excellent time management and organizational skills High attention to detail and accuracy Intermediate computer proficiency: Microsoft Office Suite required, SAP experience a plus Working knowledge of logistics, shipping, receiving, and transportation operations Familiarity with LEAN principles, including 6S execution Knowledge of inventory control practices Experience with handheld RF equipment (preferred) Comfortable using light power tools when necessary Forklift experience and/or previous certification preferred Understanding of DOT regulations and compliance standards RK Qualities Adherence to all RK Safety, Quality, ISO, and HR policies and standards RK Logistics Group will consider qualified applicants with a criminal history pursuant to the California Fair Chance Act.
