Job Description
Title:
Class A Truck Driver Reports to: Dispatcher (or Production Supervisor)Hours:
Full-time, day-shift position; local driving; must be flexible to scheduling needs and able to work some Saturdays; hours may vary due to business conditionsGeneral Description:
Promptly and safely deliver lumber and building materials to customers. Provide excellent customer service. Assist in building orders, yard clean up or other job-related tasks as needed.Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide reliable, accurate and timely delivery service between branch location and to customers.
- Help prepare material for shipment if necessary.
- Maintain the truck in accordance with inspection sheets and from instructions from yard foreman-dispatcher.
- Keep truck clean and orderly.
- Carry necessary equipment such as ropes, corners, flags, flares and release forms at all times.
- Safely deliver all merchandise without damage to material, vehicle or property.
- Demonstrate safe work habits and driving practices at all times.
- Demonstrate flexibility in scheduling, overtime hours worked and tasks performed as business conditions dictate
Characteristics:
- Hold a current Class A California drivers license, medical certification and excellent driving record
- Able to work effectively with others to obtain customer satisfaction and promote Big Creek's image in a positive way
- Dress in a clean, neat, professional manner that is appropriate for the job
- Display the ability to diffuse difficult customer situations
- Practice good organizational skills
- Able to communicate effectively with others
- Punctual and prompt
- Able to deal with interruptions without losing focus on a specific task that needs to be done
- Able to lift 100 lbs. from the ground into the bed of a standard size pick-up truck
- Possess the basic math skills to count (tally) lumber efficiently.
- Have legible handwriting
- Demonstrate a high level of safety consciousness
- Have ability to read maps and find delivery sites in remote locations; skill in driving rural roads.
Compensation:
- Starting wage range: $26.00 - $28.00 per hour
