In this energetic role, you will operate heavy-duty wrecker trucks to recover, tow, and transport vehicles safely and efficiently. Your expertise will ensure quick response times, adherence to safety standards, and seamless coordination with dispatch and other team members. Responsibilities Operate heavy-duty wrecker trucks equipped with flatbeds, boom lifts, and other recovery tools to safely recover disabled or damaged vehicles. Assess vehicle damage and determine the best recovery method while adhering to safety protocols. Load, secure, and unload various types of vehicles, including automobiles, trucks, and hazardous materials, ensuring compliance with all safety regulations. Navigate complex routes using GPS navigation systems to reach accident sites or breakdown locations promptly. Coordinate with dispatchers to prioritize calls and manage multiple recovery jobs efficiently across over-the-road (OTR) routes. Maintain detailed logs of recoveries, inspections, fuel usage, and maintenance records in accordance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations. Conduct routine inspections of wrecker equipment to ensure operational safety and report any mechanical issues promptly. Requirements Proven experience operating heavy-duty trucks such as tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or specialized recovery vehicles. Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with endorsements relevant to heavy equipment operation and hazardous materials handling. Strong knowledge of DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations, FMCSA guidelines, and hazardous materials regulations. Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and route planning for efficient delivery driving across various locations. Experience in truck loading/unloading, manual handling of cargo, and logistics cargo handling procedures. Ability to manually handle heavy equipment parts and vehicle components safely.
