Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY
Under general supervision performs duties necessary for the routine service of the collection of solid waste. Reports to the Public Works Superintendent
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(all duties may not be performed by all incumbents) Operates assigned refuse vehicles. Drives refuse truck along designated route for the purpose of collecting refuse Inspects assigned machinery and equipment before and after use, to ensure proper/safe operating conditions for the completion of daily responsibilities; performs necessary repair and maintenance when assigned; services vehicles as needed including washing, fueling, greasing, etc. Reports any malfunction for repairs. Provides assistance and instruction to workers collecting refuse regarding collection methods, performance of job, etc. Reports to management any concerns that need corrective action Performs a variety of miscellaneous duties such as: Condemns refuse containers that are no longer suitable for waste removal May be assigned to operate City incinerator Prepares, reviews and/or maintains various types of documents required, specifically: Timesheet Daily Work Log Required Mileage and Fuel Logs Utilizes/operates various equipment and supplies in the performance of duties, such as: Garbage Truck Packer Clam Truck Mechanics Tools Tractor Safety Equipment Hand Tools Protective Clothing Interacts with the following individuals in the performance of duties: Immediate Supervisor Co-workers General public
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
High school diploma preferred 1 - 3 years of experience in operating the job-related equipment Valid Florida Commercial Class "B" driver's license required Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities

From $36,795.20 per year
