Position Summary The Food Truck Driver / Cook is a dual-function operations role responsible for safely transporting the food truck to assigned locations and actively supporting food preparation, cooking, service, setup, and closing procedures. The ideal candidate is comfortable operating a large manual-transmission vehicle and can transition from driving responsibilities to hands-on kitchen and customer-service duties. Essential Duties & Responsibilities ? Safely operate and transport a large manual-transmission food truck to scheduled service locations, events, commissaries, and approved parking areas. ? Complete pre-trip and post-trip vehicle checks and promptly report maintenance, safety, fuel, or mechanical concerns. ? Follow all traffic, parking, loading, and company safety procedures while operating the vehicle. ? Assist with food preparation, cooking, portioning, plating, packaging, and order fulfillment according to company standards. ? Support food truck setup and breakdown, including equipment, service windows, supplies, signage, sanitation stations, and storage. ? Maintain clean and sanitary food-preparation, cooking, service, and storage areas throughout the shift. ? Monitor food temperatures, storage practices, product rotation, and basic inventory levels. ? Assist with receiving, loading, unloading, restocking, and securing food, beverages, equipment, and supplies. ? Provide professional and friendly customer service and assist with order handoff or point-of-sale duties when needed. ? Follow food safety, sanitation, handwashing, and workplace safety procedures at all times. ? Communicate operational issues, staffing needs, product shortages, customer concerns, or equipment problems to management. ? Assist with end-of-day cleaning, waste removal, inventory checks, secure storage, and vehicle shutdown procedures. Minimum Qualifications ? Valid driver's license and ability to meet the employer's driving and insurance requirements. ? Demonstrated ability and confidence operating a large manual-transmission vehicle. ? Prior food-service, line-cook, kitchen, catering, restaurant, or food-truck experience preferred. ? Knowledge of basic food preparation, cooking, sanitation, and safe food-handling practices. ? Ability to follow recipes, portion standards, operating procedures, checklists, and verbal instructions. ? Strong reliability, time management, communication, and teamwork skills. ? Ability to work independently while also supporting a small, fast-moving team. ? Food-handler or food-safety certification may be required based on employer or local requirements. Physical & Scheduling Requirements ? Ability to stand and work in a compact food-truck environment for extended periods. ? Ability to bend, reach, lift, carry, push, and pull supplies and equipment weighing up to approximately 50 pounds. ? Ability to work around heat, cooking equipment, refrigeration, noise, and changing outdoor conditions. ? Availability may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, special events, and variable service schedules. Training & Development Focus ? Food truck driving procedures, route readiness, vehicle checks, parking, and secure setup Company recipes, cooking methods, portioning, production flow, and order accuracy. ? Food safety, sanitation, temperature control, cleaning standards, and equipment care. ? Inventory handling, receiving, restocking, waste control, and daily opening/closing checklists. ? Customer service, point-of-sale support, communication, teamwork, and escalation procedures.
