Job Overview United Nursery is seeking a dependable and safety-focused CDL Truck Driver to support our local transportation and nursery operations. In this important role, you will safely and efficiently pick up and deliver plants, agricultural products, supplies, equipment, and other cargo between our facilities, local suppliers, customers, and business partners. Most routes will be within South Florida; however, the position may occasionally require travel to Central or North Florida to pick up agricultural products, plants, production supplies, or other materials needed for our nursery operations. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of commercial driving experience , strong attention to detail, and a commitment to safety, reliability, and on-time service. Your driving skills and professionalism will play an important role in keeping our production and logistics operations running smoothly. Responsibilities Safely operate company commercial vehicles, including tractor-trailers, refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, box trucks, and other assigned transportation equipment. Pick up cargo from local suppliers and deliver products or materials to customers, vendors, company facilities, and other business locations. Complete occasional trips to Central or North Florida based on production and operational needs. Transport plants, agricultural products, nursery supplies, equipment, and other freight safely and efficiently. Navigate routes using GPS and other navigation systems to ensure accurate and timely pickups and deliveries. Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections in accordance with FMCSA, DOT, and company safety requirements. Verify that cargo is properly loaded, distributed, secured, protected, and transported without damage. Assist with loading and unloading freight manually or with equipment when required. Verify shipment quantities and review bills of lading, delivery receipts, manifests, and other transportation documents. Maintain accurate driver logs, mileage records, fuel receipts, inspection reports, and delivery documentation. Communicate with supervisors, dispatchers, warehouse personnel, suppliers, and customers regarding schedules, delays, route changes, or delivery issues. Follow all safety procedures related to vehicle operation, cargo securement, loading, unloading, and material handling. Report accidents, vehicle damage, cargo damage, maintenance concerns, delays, or safety issues immediately. Maintain the assigned truck and trailer in a clean, safe, and professional condition. Comply with all FMCSA regulations, DOT requirements, traffic laws, and company policies. Perform additional transportation and operational duties as assigned. Qualifications Valid Commercial Driver's License appropriate for the equipment being operated; Class A CDL preferred . Current DOT medical certification. Clean and acceptable motor vehicle record. Minimum of two years of commercial truck-driving experience required. Proven experience with local pickup, delivery, and route driving. Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT requirements, cargo-securement procedures, and commercial vehicle safety standards. Experience operating tractor-trailers, refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, box trucks, or similar commercial vehicles. Ability to safely operate manual or automatic transmission commercial vehicles, depending on assigned equipment. Strong understanding of loading, unloading, freight handling, and cargo-protection procedures. Ability to perform and document pre-trip and post-trip inspections. Ability to accurately complete bills of lading, delivery logs, manifests, inspection reports, and other transportation paperwork. Strong GPS navigation and route-planning skills. Dependable attendance and the ability to report to work on time. Professional communication and customer-service skills. Ability to work independently, follow instructions, and manage delivery schedules responsibly. Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds when assisting with cargo. Ability to climb into and out of commercial vehicles and work around loading docks, warehouses, farms, and nursery production areas. Ability to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions. Flexible availability for early-morning departures, extended workdays, and occasional overnight travel. Must meet all company and regulatory requirements, including driving-record review, employment verification, background screening, and drug and alcohol testing. Bilingual English and Spanish is a plus. Preferred Experience Experience transporting plants, nursery products, agricultural materials, or other live goods. Experience driving throughout South Florida and other parts of the state. Familiarity with agricultural suppliers, farms, nurseries, warehouses, and distribution facilities. Forklift, pallet-jack, or material-handling experience is a plus. Experience operating refrigerated or temperature-controlled trailers is a plus. Work Environment This position involves extended periods of driving, climbing into and out of commercial vehicles, inspecting equipment, securing cargo, and occasionally assisting with loading and unloading. The driver may work around plants, agricultural materials, warehouse equipment, loading docks, farms, and outdoor nursery production areas.
